Here's one of the less than handful of original IBC acetates cut.

Try here: lots of REALLY early stuff.

I have "Can't Judge A Book" on two boots and on both it's obvious that the little excerpt was recorded off-air from some radio programme probably when it first surfaced.

I believe it was broadcasted from an acetate from Chris Jagger?

That would be a much later instrumental recording of "Trouble In Mind" (featuring Brian on kazoo I think) which was broadcast on radio London in 1985/86 or so.

Hi Matt, I said it also before, this is a genuine rarity and very interesting. Still some other early acetates ?

Thank you all...

So it's "You Can't Judge A Book..." (0ct 27, 1962 IBC Studios)

Dick Taylor on bass, Tony Chapman on drums?

Producer Curly Clayton?

have mercy baby - you're talkin about Mick (probably) & Giorgio! those cats deserve leniency smoking smiley

(nb: i don't know if it's true that it was Mick that bought the Crawdaddy audio,
but that's what i've read, and it doesn't seem farfetched.)

To show you what kind of guy Giorgio was, according to Paul Samwell-Smith, in his book, BLACK VINYL, WHITE POWDER (EBURY PRESS, SOFTCOVER EDITION, 2002, page 84)

"Giorgio was extravagant in everything he did. He poured money into recording and promotion, and when the group (the YARDBIRDS) went on tour, he went with them, egging them on to eat at expensive restaurants when they would have rather had hamburgers. All this expenditure came out of their income. One time in New York, Giorgio wanted to take someone out to dinner. He went to United Artists and offered them the publishing on the next Yardbirds single for the cost of the meal-$60."

It was a Chris who bought the 'Can't Judge A Book' acetate, but not Chris Jagger

The complete Little Boy Blue recordings available are (I believe)

Around & Around
Little Queenie
Beautiful Delilah
Down The Road Apiece
I Dont't Want No Woman
I Ain't Got You
Reelin & Rockin

Plus there's a medley lasting 1'10" with snippets of Around & Around, Little Queenie, Beautiful Delilah, La Bamba, & On Your Way To School.

This is quite an old interview with Dick Taylor, but a good read:

The Pretty Things put on a good show at the London Movieum on Saturday - the venue for the music was the former Greater London Council Debating Chamber of County Hall - I'm not sure it's ever heard the like of this before:
