OK, I have a question for all who are saying this is just about the greatest thing in US history . . .are youfeeling that way merely because a black man was elected president? If so, what does the color of his skin have to do with his qualifications, with his ability to sit in the Oval Office and govern? I agree that is IS historic, in that he is the first African American to be elected. I want him to succeed, to be a good if not great president. He brings great potential and possibilities to the office. But help me understand if this euphoria is because of his ethnicity or is there more to it. When Clinton was elected after 3 terms of Republicans in the White House there wasn't nearly the rejoicing that I see today.

I am as glad as anyone to see Bush go. He is truly moronic. I am not anti-Obama. I would just like to cut through the euphoria and know what is behind it. Is it the change, is it the end of the Bush era, or is it the ethnicity of the President-elect. The first 2 I can understand. But if it mainly because of his ethnicity, then it seems quite shallow to me.

Dave, for me it doesn't have anything to do with his ethnic background. Your question is kind of insulting, really, though I know you didn't mean it that way. I think Obama is not only brilliant, but he possesses the ability to get things done. I believe he truly cares about our nation and our citizens. I think he will likely be one of the greatest leaders in our nation's history.

After Bush leaves office I'll feel proud again and not embarrassed for what Bush has done to us. Bush is the ani christ.
