Mick Unhappy With Shine A Light

Huh. I'll be shadoobied:

Here is a bit:

Jagger said: “I watched it all the way through at the premiere but, when I watch it now, I can’t help thinking ‘I wish we’d changed that bit’.

“Or, ‘Oh, we should have left that bit out’. Or ‘I wished we’d put that bit back in.’”

Despite his reservations about the finished edit, Jagger said he was aware that nothing could be changed.

"I knew what was going on. I knew what we were doing. You have to put a different hat on,” he said.

“You start off with the movie idea and then you’re the performer, so of course things always surprise you. You wouldn’t be human otherwise. You’d be very jaded.”

Well it's always like that.. like when you write an article and you look back on it a week later and you think: I should have said that differently.. but saying he's unhappy with it?

Mick: "Hmm...I should've told Marty to not focus on me too much..."

Mick: "Damn it. I should've told Keith to stop playing that same solo again and again..."

Ha ha. You left out "Dammit - should have gotten Keith to actually play." And "Dammit - how come Ronnie didn't play the bridge in 'Shattered' worth a trot at all on that tour?"

Or,maybe he was thinking "We should have put real fans in the front"...Nahhh,probably not.

"It's just some friends of mine and they're busting down the door"

very intersting that post-hype he'd take an objective look at it and not feel whatever "bits" were necessarilyy the best focus etc...
can't reasonably speculate on which 'bits' he'd do otherwise for whatever reason, but do think
he shoulda paid more careful attention to his loving IORR friends as things were starting to percolate with that project...
it made money tho i bet. not the best document in many ways for various reasons.
there'll be more one hopes. rock on Rolling Stones.
and there is puhlennty in the can from many shows, both in and out of the the vault to keep things humming i suppose

Mick is the control freak, so he made his bed and now he has to live with it.

ah piss, there is always such a thing as a second edition/director's cut/Mick's cut/whatever. He/they can monkey with it later and change things

He should be unhappy that the Shine A Light setlist wasn't played during the rest of the tours...

Too bad. It is a Scorsese movie so any buck'll stop with him...I'd guess.

Agreed. There were many real treats on SAL that should have been done throughout the tour.

In my opinion "Shine A Light" pales in comparison to the Paris Olympia show in 2003. So many mistakes: the wrong guests, boring setlist, Keith and Ronnies terrible playing, Micks' whiney/nasally voice and seemingly constant reading of the lyrics too most of the songs , cheesy Clinton meet and greet. Just all wrong.

cheesy Clinton meet and greet.

That's one of the most embarassing moments in the history of the Rolling Stones.
Kissing up to the Prez and that old bag Dorothy. Give me a break!
What ever happened to rock'n'roll. They ought to devote some proper time for real fans during meet and greets, rather than kissing up to celebrities.

I found it a great r'n'r moment. Just imagine someone greeting the guest of an ex president of the USA with a "Hi, I'm ronnie!" - and the grin was priceless.

Just loved Clinton saying that he opened for the Stones. Mick was Mick when Clinton was nobody, he doesn't need to kiss up, they just showed some respect, in their own way.

Thay Hi Dorothy from Keith was just great.

That IS rock and roll these days. The only 'fans' that get into meet and greets are the ones that fork over a couple thousand dollars for some organized 'event' that includes a literal walk-through by the celebrities: the band.

Last night i listened to SAL one more time and i`m unhappy too.It is very sad and unkind to discover one more time that my lovely favourite band is finishing.Pitifull Jaggers voice and demented keith`s solos , totally not suitable bass lines and horrible mix , really very ugly sounding - ice picky highs , overcompressed sound.I`m very sorry. For me there are only two good tracks - Buddy Guy`s and Aguillera`s.Whole movie is exaggerated full of big EGO`s document about diminishing self-evaluation.I don`t need big concerts no more, just honest roots , bluesy album to say bye bye.

There wont be,

Firstly, it isn't the Stones film to 'doctor' - it's Scorsese's.

Secondly, Scorsese doesnt believe in doing "director's cuts" and is on record as saying so. If he didnt do them for the 'major' works of his career, he'll hardly do it for this one..

From wikipedia re: "Gangs Of New York"

While the film has been released on DVD and Blu-ray disc, there are no plans to revisit the theatrical cut or prepare a "director's cut" for home video release. "Marty doesn't believe in that," editor Thelma Schoonmaker stated. "He believes in showing only the finished film."

Well I agree with him about including a few of those unplugged numbers! On the DVD, ALL of the extras should have been included! They chopped out some incredible moments. Ronnie playing brilliantly, the instrumental stuff, REAL Stones! A shame that it was cut!

To my knowledge, he's never been happy with a Stones live movie.

Yes,he tends to be hyper-self-critical(if such a word exists),which is getting
boring.

Read a remark of him about "Exile..." that he does like the album, but that
it has got some of the worst mixes.
Furthermore he would like to remix it.

Oh no,please don´t do that.

Never

OK ?
