Keith & Black Uhuru sessions 1979

I was searching for threads about the Keith Richards' 1979 sessions with the Black Uhuru after hearing instrumental reggie number on a double bootleg album called "Keith" from Post Records. Also on "Booze and Pills and Powders" from The Swingin' Pig.

All I could find was this 2 year old thread
[www.iorr.org]

The album cover states Beast Of Burden (dub version) but I believe it's "Beast" from these early '79 sessions. Can anyone confirm it? It's definitely not the same as "What a Joy / Shine Eye Gal / Beast Of Dub" from the Not Guilty album. Fake recording is another possibility but beneath the muddy sound I thought I could hear some genuine Keith riffs.

790100A early 1979: BLACK UHURU. Probably Kingston, Jamaica; date unsure.
Producer: Delroy Witter. Incl.
- Shine Eye Gal (Derek Simpson/Michael Rose)
- What A Joy (Black Uhuru?)
- Beast (MJ/KR) -basing on ‘Beast Of Burden’-chords
Line-up: KR (gtr)/Radcliff Bryan (gtr)/Robbie Shakespeare (bass)/Sly Dunbar (dr)/
Keith Sterling and/or Winston Wright (org)/Derek Simpson, Michael Rose
and Puma Jones (voc)

can you post the Beast Of Burden (dub version) you found on the "Keith" and "Booze & Pills & Powders" disks, please and thank you kindly?
as that old thread makes almost clear, i finally concluded that on "Not Guilty" Beast of Dub is just an alternative title for What a Joy.

Yeah, of course. I just thought someone had figured this thing out in these two years.

Here it is.
I don't know if there's better quality on "Booze and Pills and Powders". But this one I ripped from "Keith"

Notice the bridge is very similar to Beast Of Burden. At least the first one.

No problem. So what do you say about it? Isn't it the one and only "Beast" from these sessions?

It must be available somewhere in better quality.

thanks for the thread and the file, but I don't understand the question--what needs to be confirmed?

I definitely hear the "beast of Burdon" riff.

A friend of mine bought the Shine Eye Gal 12" maxi-single in the early eighties with "featuring Keith Richards" typed in bold letters on the label. That was the time when I had to buy everything related to the Stones. So I went straight into the record store and bought the Black Uhuru LP but Keith wasn't mentioned neither on the cover nor in the liner notes. A big disappointment for me then but nevertheless a good album. You can clearly hear Keith playing on the track.

If this is the "Beast" track from these sessions and if Keith is really playing on it.

one way to find that out would be to upload it to yousendit or somewhere readily accessible,
send the link to Nico Zentgraf and ask him if that's the "Beast" he's referring to. his email address is on his site.

that's okay - i reckon sooner or later it'll let me download it.

yeah, the question is really, "what song is Nico talking about," since no one else is aware of a Black Uhuru track called "Beast." The guitar definitely sounds like keith, and the song is close enough to "Beast of Burden" to be called "Beast of Burden (Dub Version)"--which is what it's called!
