Depeche Mode just announced european tourdates for the summer of 2009. Mostly stadiums/open air venues. Anyone want to see these guys live next year? I sure do.

I just cant believe they are playing Arvika festival in sweden. Its a small indiefestival in the middle of nowhere. I mean... they sold 50 000+ tickets in sweden on their last tour. I will try to go to Latvia and Denmark insteed. I am also waiting for the spanish dates to be announced. I have always wanted to see a show at the olympic stadium there.
After Europe north and south america awaits them.

They're still around? Never cared for 'em. Thought they hung it up a while back.

It is an interesting remerk - a lot of people think so. Yet their last tour (2005/2006) was a huge success, probably their best in fact. After about 12 years of struggling and doing average records they had a truly great album followed by a great tour, the band was in a gret shape. They surely played much more than 100 concerts, most nearly all of them were sold-out. I will deffinitely go to see them, hoping that they will be in the same perfect shape as they were the last time. It is hard to tell, since the album will be released some time the next year...Well, I feel it is somehow tricky to admit I like DM too on this site, they are quite different to RS, but...please don't
crucify me, mates...

And to Gazza - surely many more dates will be announced, I think they will tour for at least one year...

when i was growing up in the 80,s my sister was right into DM.


i used to get msot of thier records blasted from her room constantly for years.


some of thier stuff was quite catchy, some of the rest was repetative drival.

i could recognise a lot of thier early 80,s to late 80,s stuff, but dont think i would be able to do the same for the late 80,s to the present.

im surprised thier still going as you dont hear much about them these days.

They played 126 shows on Touring the angel 2005-2006, and played to nearly 2,5 million people on that tour. Nearly 2 million in europe alone. Not many bands can beat those numbers. (Stones can of course. )


They are massive in europe and in some eurpean areas they even beat the Stones. I'm thinking of Germany where they had hard time selling tickets last time around. Remember how difficult it was for Stones to fill LTU arena in 2007. DM played there twice to full houses in 2006 with close to 100 000 fans those days combined.

is it still the same line up from the mid 80,s.

i know they changed a couple of years before that.

Thay have just lost one member since then (Back in 95´). They are a trio now.

true!..and ive always thought the stones played many more dates in Germany than UK - yet there is not much difference in country size?..

mind you, same goes for "the Hoff" and Germany i suppose....must be a good hunting ground over there for live ticket sales...

Their last studio album "Playing the angel" went to #1 in 18 countries and top 10 in several more. I guess that´s about the same level as "A bigger bang".

saw them on the last tour and they put on a great show.

i think that they can outsell any group in some parts of europe.

especially in germany, where they are almost gods,

was always shocked that they sold so well in america as they have such a

euro sound.

...Oops, I forgot! This is the one band I like even less than Radiohead.
