I would have to say either Jones, I Can't Be Satisfied, or Keith, in Little Queenie, Ya Ya's '69. What do you guys and gals think?

Mick Taylor's solo in YCAGWYW (Brussels 1973) takes some beating.

Mick Taylor's " Love In Vain " lead from Ladies and Gentlemen is worthy of note! Awesome. fluid, beautiful.

Wow, tough call that. There are so many to choose from. I'll have to have listen to a few tunes and get back to you.

Ok, I've been litening to a few sides and here are my favorites at the moment, by guitarist:

Keith: Bitch (from Sticky Fingers)
Brian: Can't Be Satisfied
Ronnie: Crackin' Up (From Love Live)
Mick Taylor: Too many to choose from but if I were forced to then Love In Vain from Leeds 1971.

Keith: Its All Over Now(I cant help it!)
Mick T.: You Cant Always Get What You Want from ANY 72-73 Tour Performance
Brian: I Wanna Be Your Man(CRAZY slide!)
Ronnie: slide guitar on The Storm(but I cant resist saying my fav Ron "geeetar" is
The Faces Stay With Me)

Ronnie's solo on Start Me Up from Flashpoint (and that entire tour) is one of my all time faves. And ironically his solo on Tumbling Dice from the Voodoo ppv was really good as is the one on the Stripped B-side/Rarities recording.

Mick T - Love In Vain on Ya-Ya's for certain, and CYKMK.

I like the solo in She said yeah.

The Heart of stone solo as far as I know was studied note by note on Jimmy Page transcription. Sublime.

Keith's Berry-style guitar on Down The Road Apiece has always been an absolute favourite. Live wise, I’d say Carol from Ya Ya's is a highlight and Sympathy For The Devil from any of those Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle shows. An honourable mention should also go to his ferocious work on Live With Me, Brixton '95.

My favourite Brian guitar is his slide solo on I Wanna Be Your Man.

My favourite Mick Taylor work is on Sympathy from Ya Ya's. I always felt he was underappreciated in the studio, though his guitar on Sway is very good.

Ronnie? Wild Horses from Knebworth '76. Hands down. He has never played such a great solo since.

Jones: I Wanna Be Your Man (it must be, it's his only solo, albeit a great one)
Keith: studio Sympathy
Wood: Hot Stuff '76 tour and Neighbours '81 tour
Taylor: Heartbeaker and Gimme Shelter, London 9/9/73

Other: Cooder on Sister Morphine, Wayne Perkins on Woried About You.

There is NO WAY any live version of SWAY by Ronnie(and I'm one of his biggest fans) can hold a light to the studio version with Mick T.'s magic lead!!

Re: Best ever guitar solo in a Stones song:
Date: September 28, 2008 17:35

Ronnie: YCAGWYW from Love You Live
Keith: Sympathy from Beggars
