I dunno...I've never heard this R Kelly angle before. If this is true and they are referring to Saint of Me (and NOT Anbody Seen My Baby & KD Lang) then that must have been a very sad case. Not sure what Kelly would have accused them of stealing that they used in that song...the "Oh yeah! Oh yeah" part of the chorus????
Oh shit, I saw R Kelly and didn't even bother to read that part. I just noticed the bit about Saint Of Me and wondered how odd that was because there was never any mention of that song being a problem, only ASMBaby being a problem.
R Kelly? Jesus, who would want to defend that prick anyway?
R. Kelly was another of the guy's defendants like Mick and Keith. R. Kelly had nothing to do with the "Saint of Me" infringement suit.
A couple of songwriters had recorded a demo of a song called "Oh Yeah." The track was engineered by a guy who was later an assistant engineer when the Stones would cut "Saint of Me." Their suit alleged that the similarity of the "Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah" chorus in both songs was proof that the engineer either shared their demo with Jagger and Richards or suggested it as his own idea to the Stones' recording. In any event, the court decided there was reasonable doubt that Jagger and Richards stole the chorus for their own song and that the use of a recording engineer common to both tracks did not constitute proof of theft.
Ha ha. Yet alone the fact that singing Oh yeah isn't exactly...specific. There are oh yeahs in gazillions of songs! Wow, talk about stretching something thin.
Has anyone heard or seen the lyrics to this song "Oh Yeah"? I did a search and could not find them. I wonder just how close it was? Fred Hardin Pleased to meet you........
I'm more interested in the lyrics of the song. Bizar topic for a Stones song. How did Mick got into this? What/who is the connextion to Salome? Why has he a fixation on St. john the Baptist?
not likely, since there was no lawsuit over that - the Glimmers volunteered those ASMB co-writing credits. i too have never heard of the Saint of Me lawsuit before, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen.
That has got to be the lamest thing I've ever heard!: "The suit seeks all profits derived from "Saint Of Me," plus damages, and the destruction of all copies of the song."
What planet are they from? ALL COPIES!? That is just too out there. I'm guessing nothing ever came of it.
