shortfatfanny-

I really don't know anything about the clubs other than recognizing the names of some of the elite so I couldn't base my decision on players. I'm part German (though it was many generations ago when my ancestors immigrated to the US) so I thought I'd select a German club. What stood out to me about Munich was that they had a strong history, but haven't won the championship for many years. I didn't recognize their name so I figured they were not on the same level as the elite. However, I also want to follow a team that has a fair shot at winning and figured with their history, they might fair well.

I'll take another look at Werder Bremen. I haven't gotten any tattoos yet, so I could be convinced otherwise.

The word 'soccer' is derived from 'association football'.

The US version of football used to be played much more with the feet, but the rules have changed over the years. The name stayed though.

So depending on where you're from, the word football means something different. No need to be snotty or US bashing. thumbs downthumbs down

Carlitos don't start this partisan shit again. We have all tried to support you as you appreciate your country's athletic achievements. But during the Olympics, your true partisanship and anti-americanism feelings come out. Now here you go again,as the US biggest sport season is about to start and I start a thread about it without saying anything negative about European football. You have to come back with another highly partisan anti-american thread. Your lack of class continues to show.

Come on amigo!!
I am not anti americanism, I just dont stand their politicians and people support their sistem, I lived there for a long time, and love most of the American things, but like I do in Spain, I complain with reason what I dont like, but you know the difference? I couldn´t say anything over there, first thing, What are you doing in this country?
Anyway, I am just disapointment, because football is football, that´s it?
Hoping you understand me

Puuuh,it´s getting strange here...

To our american friends: please don´t be lightskinned (is this the correct word?)
concerning everything touching so called national pride,...,....,

You can´t make such a drama out of such silly things.

Relax more ,it´s a Stones fansite and if there are some different threads
even concerning matters you aren´t interested in - so what ???

I´m not interested in "your" football - and I don´t mind you posting your
interests.

OK ,carlitos maybe is a littlelittle tooo enthusiastic concerning sports and
especially spanish athlets and teams, but I´m sure here are many others doing and feeling
the same for "their" sports-athletes-country,as it is revealed meanwhile.

But carlito isn´t anti-american or a nationalist as far as i can judge having
read many of his posts and he stated this more than one time.
Repeating this doesn´t make it true.

To carlitos:If you know where stielicke started his career, you know my fav team,
great pictures and work,really.

To WMiller,it was just a hint that Bayern are semi-popular in Germany, and Bremen
is well known and respected for nice offensive playing(getting problems in their defense often
enough because of that)

Nice one Carlitos. Barcelona are my Spanish team too so let's hope they do something this year. My English team is Manchester City and we luckily got through to the next round of the UEFA Cup last night and are playing AC Omonia of Cyprus next. And we have just signed Zabaleta from Espanol. Is he a good defender?

That is the reason why football is the most popular form of sports in the world? They played it in, say, Brazil, because they are "jealous towards the USA"?

You shouldn't listen to your mommy and daddy so much. They don't know a shit.

Doxa,BluzDude mentioned "45 years ago",the sad thing is that he wasn´t able
to create an own opinion - in 45 years !

And jealous towards what ???
