I've got a problem with U2. I liked them when they first came up, and I absolutely hated them when they were at their widescreen pastoral peek in the Mid-/late Eighties. It wasn't so much about the music but more about the message. I didn't like Bonos overblown religous act, duetting with B.B. King, raving about Elvis and saving Africa from starvation. Every move seemed to target the shores of big business - just like a Rock'n'Roll Steven Spielberg. It got better when Achtung Baby came out, but I never lost my objections completely. But still one can't deny: U2 are a great band.

Yes, must concur. U2. Really aside from Rattle & Hum and Achtung Baby, I don't need them at all.

1) Genesis- Turn It On Again

Can't stand the '70's art rock period, hate the 80's pop period, the solo stuff is useless but I LOVE THIS SONG. Especially the live version. Loved that video on MTV in the early 80's and I love to crank this song in the car

2) Hall & Oates- Maneater

I know, I know. I don't understand it either. Why this one? I love it, I can't help it

3) Sting- Desert Rose

You have to admit it has more pep than the freakin' madrigals

That whole Sting album is extremely underrated, and I wouldn't have known about it had it not been for the Jaguar (I think it was?) commercial.

Pearl Jam is another band I can't stand, but their Vs. and No Code albums are classics. Daughter and Off He Goes are 2 of my favorites. Also loved their cover of Crazy Mary.

That song was co-written by Bruce Hornsby, who also plays the keyboards on there. When I first listened to Hornsby's album "The Way It Is", I immediately realized that the arrangements of the musical accompaniment are very much related, especially the drum sounds.
