Sympathy

Intro piano, then Jagger get in for the first and then the guitars get in for the chorus " Pleased to meet you", loud guitar and great fireworks !!

Sorry for my english ; I'm a french little boy (but I like it)

Drift Away - the reasons

1). What a shock - Who would expect that?
2) The hardcore fan has already heard the unreleased versions.
3) The casual/warhorse fans would actually know the Dobie Gillis version.
4) Could have a nice little jam session to end that song.

"Around And Around"

I really would like to see the the band change the opening song every night. I would like to be surprised instead of knowing the whole setlist and opener after the first show.

That would really keep all of us on edge and would generate some real excitement for each show.

That being said I would love to hear "Dancing With Mr. D" followed by "Dance Little Sister".

My choices for openers would be one of the following to change it up a bit:

One Hit (To The Body)
Star Star
Gimme Shelter

Around and Around. Great choice, Reverend.

Followed without a break by "I'm Alright"

Where's this from anyway? I don't think I have it, but I should surely make an effort to get it.

It's from the TAMI/TNT show, this is where they followed an incredible performance by James Brown so I think Mick pumped it up a bit
I have the DVD, It's great. It's hosted by Jan and Dean and has Chuck Berry, the Beach Boys, Supremes, etc.

Lots of great ideas hear [and some not so great ;^)].
The real shame I suppose is that so much of the set list is substantially dictated by the synchronised lighting, props and effects.
I wonder how much more they'd mix things up if this weren't the case?
It's not so much knowing which songs they're likely to play that bothers folks...it's knowing exactly which song's coming next !

>> It's from the TAMI/TNT show <<

those are two different shows, actually - i know there's a dvd with parts of both,
but the TAMI show was in 64 and the TNT show was in 65.
the TAMI show is the one the Stones performed at, and they sure were something!
signs & wonders, baby - signs & wonders

>> the Dobie Gillis version <<

smile: Dobie Gray

and just to stay vaguely on topic: me i want to hear what the Stones want to open with ...
but if they wanted to open with Am I Grooving You that would be mighty hot.
then again i have a recurring nightmare of a one-number show that they open and close with Had It With You :E

well but tell me whose fault is that, babe? smoking smiley
the Stones don't make us trail whole tours via the internet, post all the set lists & so on.
the Stones' set lists were not more varied 30 (for example) years ago - au contraire!
the trouble is that nowadays there are people who chronically spoil their own appetites
by gorging on more digital input than they can handle. it's bizarre.
i mean: if we don't want to know before "our" shows what they're playing on a current tour,
all we have to do is refrain from going out of our way to find out.

I ain't got no money, but I know where to put it every time …" ;-))

followed by "Rip this joint"

One Hit To The Body would be a fine thing as opener for an indoor-show. For a stadium-show I would like Street Fighting Man.

Can't argue with that ;^)

No, they don't make us do it, but we can't help it.
Its all simply a function of that fundemental truth that a Stones tour doesn't cater for we hardcore head cases ;^) They're still too f***ing popular...that's the real problem.

Acutally the DVD I had is called the Tammy Show -from 1964. Someone once told me it was called the Tami/TNT show, so I incorrectly called it that...old Habits.
