Congrats to....

-Our Norwegian friends, whose countryman Alexander Dale Oen won Silver in the 100m Breaststroke, the first ever medal in swimming for Norway.

-Our English friends who won Gold after Rebecca Adlington overtook the American Katie Hoff, who had built a commanding lead going into the final leg in the Women's 400m Freestyle. GB's Joanne Jackson won Bronze in the same race.

-What a phenomenal victory by the USofA in the 4x100 Men's Freestyle, just overtaking the French team at the wall. 6 teams in this race broke the previous world record!!

You thought the opening ceremony was good?

Wait till London 2012...

Cliff Richard The "Peter Pan' of pop followed by Morris dancing and some sparklers waved almost in time to rule brittania.

And of course the stadiums will be built in time and on budget.

HEY MAN, I'm right there with the surround sound and HIGH DEF.....I tuned in to watch the finals for the Dachshund races late last night but I noticed that even though 12 of the cute little weenie dogs started the race at the end after 8 laps only the South African Dachshund limped in and the rest were somehow missing...... I did notice there were a lot of "Hot Dog on a Stick" stands open with long lines that weren't there a few hours earlier if my memory serves me well.....anyone else catch that or was it the Generic Vicodin and cheap Sam's Club Rum in my Pina Colada's effing up my brain cells ??? (not that one has anything to do with the other mind you)

...it wasn't the vicadin and rum Helter, I saw the little sons o' bitches too.....one minute they're running like their little legs knew their life depended on it, then the next minute they're gone. I saw those dog on a stick stands too....weird

I think the Olympics should be conducted in the nude, just like they were in ancient Greece.

What, No Olympics Thread?

Yeah I thougt the same thing. I kept thinking about starting one. But I was busy watching them. The opening ceremonies were good. Even the CGI fireworks. Getting past the whole China thing isn't easy I realize. But pretty cool so far. The swimming relay last night was awesome. Big congrats to the Yanks for that win. Jason Lezak espicially, who simply swam the fastest relay leg in history and beat the smack talking French.

Haven't watched them. Don't tend to. Don't really care to. Although I did happen to see 3 minutes of the USA/China basketball game the other day. Pretty funny. What is the point of that anyway?

China - what a waste.

How can you be a fan of something that happens only once every four years? Wait a minuete. That's about how often the Stones release new music and tour, isn't it? Okay, I take that back!

I watch the Olympics every year.

One of my favorite events this time around is Dara Torres. I'd love to take her into a small broom closet and have her beat living hell out of me.

I'm also very keen on that young Russian girl named 'Nasty'. Let's face it, that one justifies itself.

And as always, I continue to worship at the Sacred Church of Misty May's Ass.

The games are still cool...but for many it's not really sport any more.
Some nations still go with the right attitude and sentiments but others just see at as a state exercise in farming athletes to make a jingoistic point.

Unless you're watching tapes of the old ones, I don't see how that's even possible.

All he does is swim. If he was ALSO able to do something else, like win the marathon, I'd be impressed.

That's enough for me! The kid's part fish, I swear! Absolutely amazing, and all-natural. If only we had more athletes like this.

Yeah he is a great swimmer and one of the greatest atheletes of all time. Which is a good thing, since I don't think he is about to become a rocket scientest or brain surgeon anytime soon.confused smiley
