Luke McDaniel ... Whoa Boy .... Trumpet Records 184

Country Boogie rattler cut at WFOR Radio studios
Hattisburg 1952 some 4 years before he recorded his
piston pushin' Billy Lee Riley style thumpers for Sam Phillips....

Well, way down yonder in New Orleans
The black cat jumped on the sewing machine
Sewing machine caught the black cat's tail
And you could hear that black cat yell
Whoa boy (whoa boy), whoa boy (whoa boy)
Whoa boy, this done gone too far

Well, I picked up my gal in the middle of town
She said, come on Luke let's ride around
Just when things were like they oughta be
There stood here husband, six foot three
I hollored whoa boy (whoa boy), whoa boy (whoa boy)
Whoa boy, this done gone too far

Well, me and my gal was at a party the other night
We were smoochin' and holdin' each another tight
Just when about to have a little fun
I looked down the barrel of a big shotgun
I hollored whoa boy (whoa boy), whoa boy (whoa boy)
Whoa boy, this time you gone too far

Well, way down yonder in New Orleans
The black cat jumped on the sewing machine
Sewing machine caught the black cat's tail
And you could hear that black cat yell
Whoa boy (whoa boy), whoa boy (whoa boy)
Whoa boy, this done gone too far

Great reminder & heads up, Sleepy!
This is one of Bill's favorite songs. Just wonder:

is this actually a Write-on-Demand for Cliff?

Glad you like it! I don't think it was written specifically for Cliff though, as both Dick & Dee Dee and The Mighty Avengers recorded it before him.

Here's Dick & Dee Dee's version:

As with their version of 'Some Things Just Stick In Your Mind', they appear to be using the RS (or Mick & Keith's) original demo backing track!

All Down The Line from Stripped Companion. That version is great. Keith´s frenzy riffing, Ronnie´s slide work, Mick sings incredibly good, Charlie is in top form. The Stones at their prime.

There's an outtake version of Rolling Stones doing Blue Turns To Grey, which has a bit of the same style/speed/edge as that clip....only that it's better than Cliff Richard of course. Available on "Necrophilia".
