Cheers for that. Thank you. So she switched from the Stones to The Faces? Be interesting to read her book if she ever writes one. I'm sure she's got some cool tales to tell.

^^ I wonder what happened to Demetrius and the Four Just Men?

I remember belonging to the original Stones Fan Club in the UK, though I don't remember that being the address. confused smiley I had a membership card saying I was Fan number 79 or something.

Th other two are Lets Spend the Night Together and Have You Seen Your Mother Baby, Standing in the Shadows. PIB is the turns up occasionally, but these two are REALLY hard to find.

JR

I have both PIB and LSTNT, and a letter, but I have never heard of or seen the HYSYMB fan club prototype with no logo.

Anyone else hear of this one or ever see it?

VideoJames?

JR?

BTW, I have not seen a PIB come up for sale since the LICKS tour, and I bought the only LSTNT I ever saw.

Man, there is nothing you don't know! *starry-eyed admiration*

The answer to my question, as it turns out, was "not a lot."

Also--I got one of those letters from Annabelle with a signed photo, too! However, even back then I wasn't convinced of how genuine it might be.

Oh dear! The infamous DJ Jimmy Saville was one of the Fan Club Presidents!
Also, in 1964 they were still fibbing about Keith's age.

Honorary member, not a president.

I was a member for a couple of years in the late sixties. I still have some newsletters. They also sent me a picture cover for Honky Tonk Woman. And a signed picture of the band, but I'm not sure if the signature is real or just a print.

It was the Fan Club who organised the "All Night Rave" at Alexandra Palace in 1964.

Great photo..the Stones support team, very small compared to The Beatles/Apple set up. (Allen Klein would be impressed).

Tom Kellock...Keylock the Driver
Fred Trowbridge...The Accountant
David...The Painter (?)
Jan ? and Sue Cox....Secretaries perhaps?
Shirley (Arnold)...Fan Club Secretary
Jo Bergman..Office Manger /Stones Personal Manager

Location :44/46 Maddox Street, London ( I think)

Sue died in 1994. Quite odd Peter Swales is not in the picture.

Yes, forgotten about PS.
Interesting that none of the above ever sold their 'stories' to the media, either in book or interviews far as I am aware. Shirley Arnold would certainly have had an insight into the group, up until 1972.
Jo Bergman may have written for a limited release...'The Blue Book' or similar. Wonder what came of her?

Jo worked for Warner Brothers and lives in LA. Shirley lives in Spain. Brian is in a grave in Cheltenham.

Maybe just before his time?

The stories you've posted about him beginning to work for them seem to relate to later in the year.

Just discovered this! No, I didn't. Perhaps because I live in Norway ?

Was it a US cover with the London logo and US cat#? Becuase I have seen folded versions like this with UK singles housed inside. But I've never seen a copy minus the logos and cat# like I have with Paint It Black and Let's Spend The Night Together.

Therefore Annabelle was the US fan club secretary, not UK . Correct?

What is the PIB Fan Club Sleeve with no London logo? didn't know about it. Have a pix John?

Pics as requested. 1st is the regu;ar US sleeve, note LONDON LOGO. Second is Fan Club Sleeve, NO LONDON LOGO. Also note fold at top, where it was folded to be sent by mail in a more standard size logo. Copy of the letter can be had, along with an original sleeve, for a nominal fee. I have two sleeves, but only one letter.

JR

JR

I have a fan club Paint It Black sleeve. Mine is also folded on the top and I also have Let's Spend The Night Together which is folded on the right hand side. What's interesting is that all copies that I have seen, seem to have the fold lines in the same position. I read somewhere that they were sent from America, It seems that they must have been sent from the states folded which would explain the matching fold lines. Perhaps this was the case and they were simply distributed to fans on arrival to the UK.

I've also read that these sleeves were sent over for promotional/marketing purposes, I mean the sleeves are identical to the American sleeves in every way, constuction and quality but minus the London logo and cat#. My theory is that first and foremost they were produced and sent over for this reason and a batch was aslo allocated to the fan club.

The reason that I say this is I have seen a few other copies of the Let's Spend The Night Together excatly the same as mine with the same record label variant housed inside. Now that's either very coincidental or a batch of the same records where matched up with these sleeves, which falls in line with the promotional/marketing story.
