I can't understand why a band like Coldplay is getting so much attention. To me, they are soulless, whiny, and dull as dishwater.

It's like we're back in the late 1950s and Pat Boone is ruling the charts. Do Coldplay have a shred of rock-and-roll authenticity, that hunger and yearning for freedom that the Stones and the Who and Hendrix and all the great artists in classic rock history have expressed so beautifully in their music?

I remember back in 2002 when their big hit song "Clocks" came out I really liked it. Everything else ive heard by them puts me to sleep.

The state of pop music is quite dire.

I can't stand them but they're moving plenty of CDs, selling tickets and Martin's got Paltrow so they must be doing summit right!

When she was on that reality TV show where she was the cougar and all these younger guys wanted to date her, I read somewhere that she complained about them all trying to woo her with Coldplay and how she just couldn't go for that.

i liked the 1st two coldplay albums, but the new one has done nothing for me.
they are trying to hard to be like U2.

and as for radiohead. a great band that's always moving forward and keeping things fresh. plus they don't treat there fans like a big cash machine.

That's refreshing, isn't it? It's almost like they make music because they love/have to, not just for $$$. What a novel idea - artists making art, instead of businessmen...

I bought Coldplay's first two albums on release. I saw the live in 2002 and fell asleep. The end.

Coldplay leave me cold. Utterly stone cold. People on U2 message boards seem to love them, and people on Bryan Adams message boards too, but the songs that they play on the radio by Coldplay sound just so boring to me that I don't want to check out any of their albums. They seem to be getting a large promotional boost from their label at the time, because they're so heavily talked about everywhere, but besides the hype, what is there? Their latest Eno-produced single showed me that even Eno, the master of ambience, didn't undull their sound. It's as blunt as James Blunt.
