The Rolling Stones are such an interesting phenomenon (musically and non-musically) that people will be discussing and arguing over them, a hundred years from now.

In fact, the very reason why we discuss them so much here is that there are so many different, contrasting perspectives from which the subject of "The Rolling Stones" can be approached, all of which evoke so many contentious arguments.

"No one cares anymore" It may be true but whoever enjoys the Stones doesn't need the approval of the greatest #. They have compose a juge amount of music that speaks for itself. They can't be "the new thing" anymore, and they really don't have to be.And the "No ones" are what they are ;NO ONES. @#$%& it. The Stones rock baby!!!

The Stones are a nostalgia act, as they hardly don't play any new numbers. A fact.
But they still attract millions of people on tour. A fact.
Real fans or people who just want to see the Stones one time (with their kids..) and hear Satisfaction?
Musically the band (read Keith and Ron) is not a shadow from its peak (for some 73 for others 78 and/or 81) A fact.

Some fans still enjoy and some fans (me) gave up The only thing I want:
- a 78 DVD
- release with 70/79 outtakes

Stonesfans get older... ...older people tend to talk about one thing all the time... ...young people ignore this... ...older people feel ignored... ...like No One Cares Anymore. But it's nonsence: filled stadiums, 4 generations present at shows: those are facts, these facts tell a whole different story.

Stones will always bring out a good rock and roll show with Jagger as an absolute top entertainer. The people in the stadiums don't really care for any musical decline. They come the hear SMU and Satisfaction. The background musicians and vocalists cover a lot. Keith and Ron pose as real rock and roll stars, so take a beer and enjoy the show and sing along with the warhorses.

If you like bands to play their latests stuff, new arrangements, technically good, etc. go to Dylan, Springsteen, Clapton, Plant/Krauss, Prince etc.

It's not about that. It's about some people being wrong that they suck today. Who in their right mind would let anyone attack something they love? If I attacked your wife verbally, would you defend her or would you wave it off as freedom of speech? I mean gimme a @#$%& break.
Sounds way too much like some people can't get over a frickin' concert they saw in 1972. Why don't they stay away from today's concerts then? It would give me more space to have a good time on.

...And before anyone starts pointing out that my post isn't exactly about the music, let me say this: I think the music they make today is just as good as it once was. It's just different. That's where people go wrong. "Start the shows with Let It Rock". Eeeeerrrr..... No...... It's not 1978 anymore. It's a different band. I think that caving in to what the old hardcore fans want would be selling out and thank God they haven't done that yet.

But in the sad sad eventuality, everything was over, then try to be happy and say that they've gone after a wonderful tour, and a more wonderful career. Make yer mind up missus, first you say 'Other than us, no one cares' implying you're a part of the forum family of fans, then 'Not even that interesting. Get over yourselves' as if you are some kind of guru that has seen the light, but instead of being a bringer of light (like all good gurus), you take it upon yourself to insult the good folk on this forum. Sure people are gonna be peed off and sure you have provoked a reaction with your cheap shot, but that's a sign of depression and a cry for attention, so I hope that you're feeling better now that so many people have put you centre-stage. I'm new on here but am not surprised at the reaction, it's just the same on many other forums when someone says summat out of turn or against the grain, it's sadly amusing if you take a step back and reread it!
As for the Stones, I've been into their music for around 45 years and still enjoy it, but their live performances have always a bit hit and miss compared to some other bands I've seen. (Watch out for incoming!!)

Having said that, the Stones have that presence and command a huge following and respect, no-one can deny that. As for them being top because they sold xmillion records, so has Daniel O'Donnell!!

It's all a matter of taste, so just stick out yer big red tongue and enjoy!!!
