It comes with the territory, but imagine having to do this for 40-some-odd years.

Sad and disgusting. I can't believe he is walking around without a body guard.

Paul is very polite under the circumstances. Glad he doesn't throw a tantrum.

Of all the Beatles, Paul is the one who most wanted to be famous. I would hardly describe his life as a nightmare.

Just because you're a millionaire doesn't justify a paparazzi shoving a camera up your ass every 2 minutes. May we have some respect here.

He didnt look that harrassed to me. Comes with the territory doesnt it? Has nothing to do with respect. Tatters has a valid point. Actually I thought they were quite nice. I've seen more harrassment trying to buy beer.

Clearly scottkeef was wrong to say of Paul: "maybe he can relax by counting his millions."

He should have said 'Maybe he can relax by counting his hundreds of millions.'

With 40 years of practise he probably knows how to handle them...... Somewhat. If it was me I'd have punched the crap out of them.

Well, quite sometimes the artists like the attention from the press / cameras.

When they need to promote new projects / music / movies etc. - without the press / cameras, they would live unknown - an example: Shine a Light at the Berlinale - lots of press and nobody is complaining, then it is fun to have paparazzis / presspeople around.

When you have chosen to be a public person like Macca, Stones, U2, Brad Pitt etc., you have to take the bad moments together with the good moments - else drop out of the business.

The people following him are not legit media people, they would not be on a Press Pass list if he were doing a Press Confrence or closed to the general public appearance.

Do you see major TV Networks following and filming celebs down the street or them just waiting for their cars while talking to morons? Major networks get their clips from being invited to premires and arranged interviews. TMZ gets their clips from amatures pounding the pavement.

A while back there was an article and interview in the New Yorker, I believe, around the time Paul's last CD came out. The writer describes what it was like walking from Paul's offices to a restaurant for lunch. Paul understood what was going to happen. The one time he got hung up with someone and people started to gather he said "That was my fault. I didn't keep moving." But what struck me is his general good natured acceptance about it. And, yes, his openness made me nervous. I was reminded of the charm of The Beatles. They hit the American scene only a few months after the assassination and were a welcome shot of joy, musically and otherwise.

Papparazzi are scumsucking @#$%&. I don't understand what the big deal is about haveing to get a celebrities picture. As far as the "it comes with the territory" argument. Look what happened to Princess Diana when she was being chased by the papparazzi. Does that "come with the territory" as well.

Maybe her "drunk on his ass" driver played a part too. I agree papparazzi dont always act right though. But if they make lot of money of their pics it takes them out of the "amatuers pounding the pavement" classification.
