The Marley family wouldn't allow him to use actual Bob Marley music in the film and I heard they were a pain in the ass so he probably said "@#$%& it".

The Marley's are in and out of jail a lot as far as I know! A friend of mine was trying to book them for something and their agent couldn't commit as to who would be there. I really don't know if this is true or not, I don't know anything about their personal life, but a friend mentioned this recently.

They wouldn't approve Scorsese's use of "Gimme Shelter" in the opening, middle and closing sequences.
