Listen agin Tumbling Dice on SAL. It is a sloppy version and it's partly Darryl's fault. It's not swinging at all. Just boring.

The Stones sidemen (and women) are more than employees don't you think?
Look at Bernard, and Bobby, and Chuck, they are involved in all the side projects of Keith, Charlie and Ronnie's. Its great that they are a family, and I like to think thats how the Stones see them.

I agree, and I think one of the nice things about Shine a Light is how it shows and doesn't hide that. They all seem like lovely people, though there's something a little creepy about Chuck.

But all that aside, one can still criticize Darryl's style of bass playing, as it fits the band. And in the end, it's the Stones' responsibility for choosing him and then telling him how to play. It's not like he's an old mate from London they can't cut loose. And I'm sure he could play differently if they told him to.
