This is fantastic. Not to change the subject but just wondering - maybe someone has similar pics and articles from the Some Girls tour? I think it's pretty accurate to say that the 1978 tour is the most under-covered tour they've ever done, story wise and picture wise. The fewest pictures of any tour are of that one.

I have the 75-76 tour book with pictures by Annie. Fantastic book. I think it's all from the US dates though. It seems they were at the top of the hype machine for that US tour - without a record except for a greatest hits comp! Maybe the only other tour to generate such interest and hype was Steel Wheels?

Great pictures, fantastic articles here. It's great to read how in one or two articles they were terrible and it sounded terrible and then in another how great they were and how good it sounded. Hilarious!

I'll try and get Nick Kent's report from the NME up by tonight or tomorrow.

It's a long one!

This is just the best thread to read at work!!!!! I need to get me some more Earls Court '76 shows. They sound best under the influence of Xanax and vodka (& I have a supply of both!!!!)

Haha that second interview is hilarious!! Even though it's bullshit, we need more reporters with balls like that these days.

Just found another from Earl's Court - this one taken by a mate. Stay posted, think I got some more somewhere. I think the girls will like this one.

I'll have to find the book. It's in a box somewhere. The poor thing is starting to fall apart. I've maybe read it/looked at it, with great care, about 20 times total so I haven't handled it too much. I've never seen another one. But if I do, and if it doesn't cost more than a tank of gasoline, I'm gonna get it.

No comments about Mick and coke from these years..

By the way, I think Mick's style in 75/75 was the ultimate rock star/front man look. Even with some of the outragous outfits and eye liner. Its past the glam/jumpuits look and before the wanna be punk look he tried in 78..

Wonder what he'd look like if he grew his hair that long these days.

It's somewhat odd that - and I can't recall exactly - that none of the Euro tour is in the book! Does anyone have the book?

Mick Taylor and Keith:

Sorry to repeat the photo - but this is such a great shot. Keith with that thousand-yard stare and Mick Taylor looking cooler than he ever did than in the band.

Interesting that he was on sociable terms with them so soon after the split - I (incorrectly) thought there was more acrimony involved.

No need to apologize for repeating such a great picture!

It's an interesting point you make about their relationship. I just wonder whether Taylor was at the gig itself, or just decided to show up at the after-show bash only.

...anyone out there have any info?

well done all, great thread (a welcome break from much of the dreary SAL stuff of late) - will also be an eye opener to the blinkered musings of those whose knowledge of the band is confined to 4DVD sets etc etc

Any clips of Earls Court known to exist on You Tube. I guess one of the closest things to compare is with Paris 76 concerts at the Aboittoirs, remember staying up late to watch it on OGWT. Are there any good DVD's of Paris in circulation?

Keith and Taylor - a head full of snow . .(look at those eyes!)

And yes, in the flesh the 76 tour was really great! Unfortunately not so much the boots from those gigs.

Been at many gigs on that tour (but not in Britain) and the pics bring back all those memories . .

Three questions--

1. Wy does Preston have the '75 fro in one of the pics? (Earls Court final show 27 May 1976)

2. Is that the Knebworth outfit Mick's wearing in the one captioned: Earls Court 22 May 1976 - Graham Whiltshire ?

3. How many cities got the Lotus stage? (vs. the ramp stage)
THANKS!
