if that's your view, why don't you suggest simply closing down the discussion board? That would really save the most time.

It's their opinion, that's all. Me, I like both sides here. The out-and-out diehard worshippers and the puristic critics. Tension sparks off discussion.
What I don't like is dumb mindsets and mindless statements, like: "This is a fan site, so act like a fan." We're not the rented girls in the front row. But the boys can be prowd of us, filling the front row nevertheless.

What we share here, ought to be LOVE for the band?

I have my doubts about parts of SAL; but even I, apparently known as
a very pro-Stones dude, was overwhelmed by the quality SAL possesses.

I agree with many that Keef sounds worse and worse and
his guitar playing shows a -
if not straight but nevertheless headed steadily - downwards curve.

On the other hand his singin' is still good.

The latest is an overall critizism towards Jagger on his singin', which
I find interesting and to a large extent shares. But on the other hand
Jagger is a power phenomenon, like a organic nuclear power plant.

If we all try to be objective and not keep statin' the same things
over and over, this board should become a helluba livin' forum to be at.

just to be clear, I was taking the "extreme" view only as regards _the discussion board_. I've never said the Stones should quit, don't have any desire to see any former Stones back in the band, and still enjoy tuning in to current performances now and then (for a few numbers, anyway). My views are simply my own, to be put into dialogue with others here. What I object to are suggestions that would limit dialogue, or eliminate it altogether.

No one has a monopoly on the "objective" truth about the band, especially as none of us actually know them. None of us is in a special position to determine the appropriate range of opinions, and the "golden mean" between possible opinions is no more likely to be accurate than any of the extreme opinions--and is so predictable, it wouldn't be worth expressing anyway!
