Mick Jagger appoints the successors of the Rolling Stone

Source the Sun newspaper, [www.los40.com]

The leader of the Rolling Stone, Mick Jagger has granted an interview to the Sun newspaper, where the singing speech of his passion by music as well as the illusion that to him the opening of the film produces on the band that has directed Scorsese and that recently has been released.
In this interview, Jagger also describes to its group like unique, but it dares to put name to his successors. Only two candidates show to so illustrious position. One of them U2, to that Jagger I foretell many years of life. The other name is Coldplay. In spite of them, the leader of the Rolling continues itself seeing like a group which as much the criticism as fans describes as “unique”.

The singer also has time to speak of the rumors that turn on the band confessing that his favourite is that one who tells that “Keith Richards changes the blood every year. He always enchanted to me, because he has a very sinister air”.ççç

Mick just commented that UD and Coldplay might be the bands / group that could continue as long as Stones - nothing about being successors.

Coldplay is a complete different band / musicstyle than Stones and over the last 10 years U2 also has changed music style to more softer ballads.

>> But that´s the info The Sun say <<

actually it seems to be a babelfish translation of a Spanish newspaper's translation
of whatever the Sun printed.
i know you're posting stuff that you think is interesting, but in case it's helpful for you to know:
babelfish translations are not especially comprehensible.

Coldplay may be about as interesting as a newly-painted wall, but they still manage to shift shed-loads of albums.

I'm fairly certain Carlitos was using Babelfish or a similar translation device. Nothing to the quote we haven't read before, just that the translation leads one to draw conclusions that weren't really there.

That is ridiculous. It ends with the Stones. From their roots and influences, how they were created to their body of work and style of music. No band can be compared and no one can " carry the torch" after the Stones. When it's finally over it will be over. Yes, maybe a band will be together as long or longer sometime in the future but it doesnt matter. Stones are an entirely separate institution.

As far as I can understand the spanish it says something like:
"Jagger calls his group unique. Only two other bands could become as illustrous."
Which is where the coldplay comes in.
There is no link to the supposed sun article, but maybe somebody can dig it up?
If only I loved Coldplay, and tango: I'd be popular with the chicks... sigh.

"Meanwhile, Mick Jagger reckons Coldplay has Rolling Stone longevity. When asked if any other bands will keep going like the Rolling Stones have, he said, "No-one has done what we do. Maybe U2 will keep going. Coldplay possibly. I’d never say how long we’ll keep going. It’s not going to be forever. All things must come to an end, that’s just a universal truth."

Here it is - just about the longevity - nothing about the music.

i learned to like Coldplay after going to 2 gigs with two years interval. with my, at the time, teenage daughter.

i find they have something extra, not just a good band, yes a special charm that i fall for.

AC/DC, Aerosmith, slight possibilities, few else.

"Here they are they greatest rock n roll band in the world, Coldplay." How could a band formed in 1998 even come to mind...odd.

If there ever was a successor to the Stones it would have to be a true ROCK band, U2, Coldplay are pop rock. Aerosmith went commercial Rock. AC/DC were never the same after Bon Scott except for Back in Black album but they still rock.

Would rather here who Keith thought.....

Every true Stones fan knows THE STANDELLS (Dirty Water, Try It, Sometimes Good Guys Don't Wear White) are the true, one and only successors and all other names are just false gods in the temple of lies.....

U2 are the most over-rated band in the World.
Their songs are just repetitive, miserable, droning noise.
and Coldplay???, I wouldnt recognise them if they walked past me in the street.

and all of this from the sun?lol
