superb 4cd box set from the Faces...........clearly Ronnie should have stayed where he was, as he is a far more accomplished player with that band.

some great songs

I don't really agree because Rod was breaking up the Faces anyway and Woody would have just ended up as Rod's sideman

But I agree that it's an excellent Box set and having seen the Faces live, it ranks among the great concerts.

Good box, yes. But what had became of Ron if not, if not...? Impossible to say.
I think Ron has contributed with good things to the Stones. Despite some ups and downs, but who hasn't? Especially in music business.

I love this box set. I am too young to have ever witnessed the greatness of The Faces myself, but this box is an excellent way to find out.

WOW! Thanks for this thread. I've been thinking about getting this CD for a while now.
I'm wondering now if you can get an autographed copy from Ian's website, haven't looked at it lately.
BTW, Rod Stewart and Faces were the first live band I witnessed in concert, backing up Three Dog Night in 1972.

you can't deny it, these performances are superb as is Ronnie. In this band he was without doubt the main man, with the Stones he never was, always no more than a bit player.

For those who don't know the Faces (and there are many, the band has never really had a high profile in recent years), please check it out. Much of it not dissimilar to Stones at their best...........

Hello,

What was also a nice touch was Mac asking fans for ideas for a title of the box-set.
He even e-mailed back to thank me for my shit suggestion.I'm only glad that I can' remember what drivel I came up with.
Splendid fellow!

Cheers,

Si.

In the recent issue of Uncut that featured the Faces, Mac said something to the effect that the Faces would have overtaken the Stones in America if they had kept it together. Also that Mick Jagger saw that coming and purloined their guitar player to prevent it!

The Faces were a great band but that is a bit much.

I just ordered the box set a few days ago, looking forward to it.

Great box set! I've given a few as gifts and Mac is a real pleasure todeal with. If you love great rock and roll, get it!

I thought this would be a jokes thread confused smiley

Five guys walk into a bar. One says to the bartender, "Can I have a bag of helicopter flavor chips?" The barkeep says, "Sorry, we only have plain."

A man runs into a bar and asks the barkeep,
"Give me ten shots of your best whisky."
The bartender sets up the ten glasses.
The man starts drinking them as quickly as the bartender serves them.
The bartender asks, "Why are you drinking so fast?"
"You'd drink fast too, if you had what I have."
The bartender asks, "What do you have?"
"Seventy cents."

A guy walks into a bar, sits down and hears a small voice say,
"You look nice today."
A few minutes later he again hears a small voice,
"That's a nice shirt."
The guy asks the bartender, "Who is that?"
The bartender says, "Those are the peanuts. They're complimentary!"

I was laid out on my proctologist's table this morning, and a buxom blonde nurse walked in with a beer.

The doctor said: "I asked for a BUTT light!"

Mac did a wonderful job putting this box together. Each disc is excellent and the package provides hours of fantastic music. I was so excited when this was released and got Mac to sign my copy. This boxed set makes a terrific gift for rock and roller friends. The discs get lots of play from me. This was such a good band and I count myself fortunate to have seen them many times throughout their career. Their music never gets old.

Even though I have great contempt for what the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has become, how can The Faces not be in? Very sad.

The Hall of Fame - Madonna is in but the Faces not! What a joke!!

I loved them too although live Ronnie often played even more slobby than with the Stones.
