yeah its a party album -fun album even for people who dont really know the stones ( the young ones) so nice to see the girls dancing to fingerprint File!
The TD version (oh shit!) is one of my favs of that song only the 73 and 78 (some) versions top it....i still think its such a exiting intro!!Jesus what a nice thread you make me play the album!

Yeah thats a great version of TD. Its funky. It reminds me of reggae. Billy's organ sounds cool and the guitars are nice and rough. I haven't heard LYL in a long time. Time to give it another spin.

>> Charlie Watts is a sort of maybe <<

i always thought it was "Charlie Watts is open to himself maybe" - a follow-up to
"Billy is open to offers - i wouldn't say 'up for grabs' but open to offers" (or whatever it is)

and let's not forget "do the Horrendous to THAT if you can!"

I'm always sticking up for this album. It was my first time hearing anything live by The Stones, and my first foray into non radio-hits of them too. I know Disc 1 isn't their best, but I still have a soft spot for it and the Paris vids its related to.

Side 3 - it's in Canada, so I gotta love it!

Side 4 - I think this is pure raw rock energy! Overdubs? I don't care - it sounds #$%&ing awesome!!!
IORR is from Toronto 75 - I love hearing "Do you think that you're the only woman in TAH-RON-TO!!!!"

... and the version of Sympathy is great! I don't care if Mick's vocals are re-done! I LOVE the whole 2nd disc to PIECES! I'm going to crank it now, as I'm snowed in and my wife is in The States!

Hadn't listened to Love You Live in years, before last weekend. Both side 3 and 4 is terrific... even Brown Sugar and JJFLash from Paris; but I must say that nearly all performances on side 1 and 2 is just a distant shadow of the 1975 performances, I think.
They shouldn't have edited the terrific Sympathy For The Devil nor Fingerprint File...the full-lenght audience recordings of these TOTA songs are superior
Have you noticed the error on Star Star - sounds like a metallic echo in Jaggers voice, somewhere in the middle of the song? Thought something was wrong with my pressing, the first time I heard this; even bought a new record some days later - but it's like this on all vinyls and CDs.

Star Star's vocals were overdubbed in the studio.
What you're hearing is sound blled from his origianl voice coming though one of the other mics onstage (Keith's, Billy's, drum mikes maybe?).
This happens a lot on Ya-Ya's, too. With Honky Tonk, if you listen, you can hear the original lyrics for the second verse fainty on it!

I thought it was "Charlie Watts isn't sure, maybe". Gonna give it a listen right now.

No this is NOT what I'm hearing
I know very well about the overdubs.
The metallic mistake in Star Star comes when Mick says "gonna" in "gonna make you jump all night. Take a listen yourself...

Sorry, I sounded crabby; I can't help it....it's in my nature.
BUT... I would love to hear a good explanation on this thing in Star Star - because it has nothing to do with the "original vocals" in Paris 1976. It sounds like a computer-error; but they didn't have computers in 1976/77, did they ?

maybe the error was made in the 80's when this album was put on to CD

Heck, Al Gore invented the internet back in the sixties.
They just didn't allow us to have fun with it until the nineties!

Yeah - they had computers.... not too sure about Al Gore being the inventor tho' he he, but Love You Live with it's overdubs was recorded on tapes.
