I HEAR YOU! I have the videos from Ft Worth, and I have "Handsome Girls".
It's taken nearly 30 years to realize how under-rated this short tour is.

The strange and fortunate thing is that the existing boots captured them at their best -- the shaky gigs aren't circulating. So, what's happening is beautiful -- the bad memories fade, but the good ones survive and all of a sudden this tour gets elevated , in hindsight, to legendary status.

Who remembers the SNL appearance? I was disappointed. The truth of the matter is that '78 was maddeningly inconsistent. When they were good, no one could touch them. At other times, they were a bad imitation of themselves. C'est la vie.

I gotta hear my "best of Handsome Girls" set again --

"and now from England, the Rolling f*cking Stones!"

There is something else about these boots -- for a brief moment, the band recaptured the abandon of their early 60s incarnation -- the only thing missing is the screaming teenies.

Rooster is right! This tour was the last of the basic lineup without the horns. The tapes don't lie.

It was before my time but I vividley remember seeing a re-run of it on public access when i was on college. It was my first exposure to the stones live in 78 and I was BLOwN AWAY by it. I thought it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. BOB had already been a favorite of mine but Hearing it live for the first time made me look it the song in a different way. I didnt know the stones could be so funky. it reminded me of reggae. and micks MOVES! Crazy.
