I can't believe this.....there is a website taking an official vote from the public as to who the best rock band of all- time is. The Stones are not even close to winning so we have to start voting....Now!!! Right now, it looks like Zep and Queen are winning but we need to step it up. I think Billboard is going to post the official result too so this is big. I don't get it,,,has no one ever taken a vote on this and been crowned the best band ever? Any thoughts would be appreciated as I am frustrated. Even the Beatles are lagging! here's the site link to vote: www.votenumber1.com GO STONES!!!! peace out
folks, lets keep this thread going so the members can see it and vote we need votes for the Stones..respond, comment, etc If they don't win it would be a travesty! again, vote at: votenumber1.com we are way behind right now in votes!
who is "we"? sorry, but it looks like you've just turned up here to get us to look at a website with another "same-old same-old" type meaningless poll. if there's a shortage of enthusiasm, maybe it's because we don't know you, or this site/survey, or why you want us to "vote" in it. don't mean to be harsh, you understand - i'm just sayin.

Spot on. WE all know The Stones' status. These polls are pointless.

WE think some people have a strange sense of priorities

There is no visibility about the number of voters. I just did my job, but can live with The Stones at # 10 or # 20 as long as they just can fill Wembley.
This is one of the shittiest sites I've ever seen in my life. There is no way in hell that Billboard or any other company would publish the results of this meaningless poll. Someone is just trying to drum up interest in this new site.
I already heard a promo for it on a radio station in my area cant be that shitty of a site my vote is in and you can vote once/ day do what you will but the stones deserve to be #1
sorry - slow afternoon! i went and looked at it. what does "THIS IS THE FIRST EVER OFFICIAL VOTE BY THE PUBLIC" mean? this kind of poll is done about every two weeks - what's "official" or "first" about this one?? roven, you registered on iorr yesterday, right - just to exhort us to vote in this thing? so tell us something about it. who's running it? and: what does it matter?
Well, honestly I don't give a shi t about polls like this, 'cause I already know that the Rolling Stones is the best band EVER, no matter what the outcome of this poll might be.
Well since Metallica and AC/DC are ahead of The Beatles and The Stones it seems that this poll is about as credible as a Steven King novel. It's good fiction though.

All it proves is that THEIR fans have nothing better to concern themselves with and need to get reassurance in whatever way they can.
Seriously - is there anyone over the age of about 8 who cares about these things?

I like Stephen King novels. Read just about everyone of them.
maybe someone figured people like to vote and be heard ala...american Idol, dancing with the Stars, etc...I don't know...why not??? It's never been done before by the public that probably why. I don't know who owns the site,,,just passed it along here man, you guys are uptight! GET A GRIP

Well the point is that it is constantly done by various websites. Still don't understand why this website would think this is an "official vote" since these votes happen all the time and there is really nothing credible about them.
These votes all come down to who is visiting the site. If it's a site visited by older people I'm sure they would vote for Frank Sinatra over Bruce Springsteen and if it a website vistited by younger people it would be the opposite.
I bet ninety nine percent of the people never even heard of this site so how can it be anything official?

You must be f**king joking. There seems to be one of these stupid polls about every week. Any twit can upload a poll on a website. A fact which basically renders everyone of them pointless.
>man, you guys are uptight! GET A GRIP
An ironic post from someone who's getting upset by his favourite band not winning an online poll!!
well, never seen one like this and what if Billboard posts the results? how stupid if the Stones don't win greatest rock group of all time anyway, even the best guitarist section is intriguing who is going to fight for Eddie VH, Santana, Slash, etc could be very interesting especially if you are passionate about music think you will see more people getting involved just my opinion
they should just do a big cage match; all of these artists have enough funds for private security guards or merceraries...let's just have it out...the band members, crew, hired contractors...who wants it more eddie or slash? that simple. two men enter one man leave. didn't you see the mad max movies? the stones 'pole' was pretty much wyman according to legend and his writings.
First of all if it were a legitimate poll I wouldn't expect The Stones to win anyway. I think they are the greatest of all time but if you were to take a real poll- say poll every single person in a country or a state I would expect The Stones to come in second amongst bands.
Secondly how in the world can Billboard post it when Billboard is about hard numbers? They are about record sales figures/tour grosses and other numbers which can be verified. How can an opinion question be posted by billboard? And even if it was what would people think of Billboard when they see a list that ranks Van Halen, Metallica, and other B bands above The Beatles and Stones?
The only worth that poll has is if you were to print it out and use it when you found yourself short on toilet paper.

This is just another lousy site trying to tap into the whole 'voting' thing. There is nothing 'FIRST' about any of this. Billboard would never get involved in releasing the results of this page. I wouldn't be surprised if every band on the poll had threads like this in all of their message boards.
roven Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > well, never seen one like this and what if > Billboard posts the results?
Ok..what will happen, then? The world will end? Some people will kill themselves? Some people might actually READ it and take it seriously? The Stones will disband in shame?
Go on, tell us...
(What FrankM says above is 100% right anyway)

This polls are tedious in the extreme. They can so easily be hijacked. Example, the day of the Freddie Mercury tribute in 92 the Daily Mirro (cheap, trashy paper in Englandshire) ran a greatest song of all time poll. Given the day it appeared it was all too obvious that it would be full of Queen songs following a militant approach to voting. Even ordinary (as opposed to classic) songs of the then latest album made it into the list. Pointless exercise.
