All about you

What is it about ?

Don't believe it's keiths dog, think it's about mick, not anita due the line: I heard one or two, and they weren't about me, they weren't about her

I always thought it was about mick. Is the line about "not about me not about her" referring to micks so called thing with anita during the performance fiming? but with keith, who really knows!!!

Keith has said it's about both Mick and Anita.
in one interview he also said that it's mostly about himself.
very cool perception.

Everything is always about ourselves.

One of the best pieces of music ever written imo.

Charlie: The classic one on this album is the one Keith's done. I mean, I didn't know what ...
right up until about 2 months before the album ... has now come out.

Mick: Which one are you talking about, Charlie?

Charlie: I mean, I didn't know ...

Mick: Which song?

Bill: All About You.

Mick: Oh, All About You.

Bill: The "train song".

Mick: Yeah.

Charlie: Yeah.

Ron: Train Song, that's what we knew it as.

Charlie: Yeah, Keith's, yeah ... Oh nobody knows ...

Bill: It's just a track called Train Song.

Charlie: And I never knew what Keith was going to (put) on it, I never knew what he wanted ...
But it was a great track to play. That's being a drummer, you know?

Ron: He ended up singing that too, which is quite pleasing.

Charlie: Yeah, it's great. But I mean ...

Mick: It's not me singing it (laughs).

Charlie: How he made a song out of it, I don't know.

love this song. It has a quality about it that many stones ballads and keith songs have. that is it is good to listen to after a long or tough day. Helps to restore my spirits.

Love the horns on this track. Anyone know if Keith had anything to do with the horn charts?

i'm sure Keith let Bobby know what he wanted, and Bobby did good.

The discussion as quoted by With Sssoul between Mick, Charlie and Bill is priceless. I love Charlies final remark.
That's exactly how I feel about some of Keith' (slow) songs. Like a river they start meandering around unpredictable bends. Either you let yourself flow with the current to find out it had been a wonderful ride, or you are desperately trying to figure out which way the song is going and get lost because there is no sense of direction. Just emotion.
Some of us love it, some can't. I'm in with the first group.

I agree, I always liked this song, one of his best, and was thrilled to here it live on that tour.

I wish they were a bit more articulate in that interview... mick notably doesn't step in to rescue something comprehensible from charlie's hemming and hawing. Are they trying to delicately talk around the seeming fact that a song they only worked on instrumentally turned out, once keith overdubbed some vocals, to be (partially) about mick?

... in that same interview where Keith says it's mainly about him, he said that after did the vocals
(which by the way he still envisioned as guide vocals for a Mick LV rendition)
everyone started taking him aside privately wanting to know: "is it all about me?"
Mick - Ronnie - Keith's kids - i don't know if "everyone" includes Bill and/or Charlie ...

so according to that anecdote, mick wasn't too hurt to ask about the meaning of the song. that's good... though I seem to recall reading somewhere that the making of this album was the beginning of a bad stretch for them. can't remember just why... but it was wise of mick to recognize a great vocal when he heard it--assuming it was his decision. not all fans have the same quality of ears.

smile: so i've noticed!
the way i've heard it, it was again "everybody" who told Keith that his vocal should stay,
so i reckon that includes Mick. as for bad spells ... i love that Mick wound up singing Fight, you know?
even in the heat of their worst frays, they are still the Glimmer Twins.

My idea or theory is that Keef became stronger all of a sudden
since he quit smack; and then their relationship underwent
heavy changes by that sudden difference in the strength balance.
