B. Preston pulling down Mick's pants

I think it was one of the most embarrassing stage gimmick. I felt ashamed. Even my mother laughed.

Billy Preston felt ashamed too.
But he was young and needed the money.

in the Abattoirs footage one of Mick's leggings starts falling off while they're dancing -
and Billy helps him get them all the way off. i don't know if that's what the Joker means?
it's just another "busted a button on me trousers" moment, only this time they *do* fall down.
only the leggings, though - those fringed ones

You could say that B. Preston is a real 'THE JOKER'!

I thought it was something Bill and Mick were doing every night on stage. Remember Mick had TWO trousers one upon the other (how interesting)

The old Jimbo-Mojo party trick ;O)

those aren't two pairs of trousers, dear, those are ... hell, i can't think of the word for that type of garment, sorry!
but the fringed ones are just decoration over the trousers. and they started to come down
in the middle of the dance, and getting them all the way off was easier/quicker than fiddling around
fastening them back up to the beat. watch the scene again - i really don't think it was supposed to happen,
or that they did it regularly. i might be wrong, though! open-g would know :E

sssoul...like chaps?

OLDKR

chaps, that's the word. usually leather, with no seat in them.
cowboys wear them over trousers to protect their clothes.
Mick wore them over trousers to accentuate his funky butt.

smile: i recalled it on my own, but: thanks, oldkr! or should i say old chap :E

oh yeah, now I get it.
yes those green chaps were also pulled down with a little help by Billy in Frankfurt.
I do believe it was part of the show.

the thread title got me confused - I was thinking of *ahem* a full moon.

oh - okay, thanks open-g! and Joker - that's interesting and educational!
it's funny the things that look spontaneous until you compare a few shows

This thing happened during a Preston song - it was his pinacle - his own show encapsulated in the Stones show, and besides, he was taking off Mick clothes. What a glory. Keith was pissed off, I presume. He said he fired Billy when Billy talked about coming with his own sound engineer.

in that photo open-g just posted, Keith does look like he's concentrating hard
on ignoring the Major Flamboyance just to his right :E

Not Micks best wardrobe decision!

What has became this skull-pirate guitar on the pic? I think it was only used during 1975-76

Re: B. Preston pulling down Mick's pants

Keith used it in 78 as well, but only on like one number per show.
then it either got stolen or burnt up in that fire in LA after the 78 tour.
in 05 Keith unveiled a replacement of it - he used it on Sway most times that was played on the ABB tour
(and there's a lot about these two guitars on a couple of threads you can find
by searching "ratbag boogie" - it's in the "Keith's custom guitars" and "Keith & Ronnie's Zemaitae" threads)

You might think so, by just looking at that picture - but the show was different.
I believe they played Hot Stuff, and definately Hey, Negrita.
the stripping was a big show effect, as you see we're still at it 30 years later.

>>...and "Keith & Ronnie's Zemaitae" threads <<

Dear Miss Sssoul,
that Zemaitae looks bad, like a bad toe - ouch.

I can't believe a persons name can be changed, just because he produced more than one instrument.
If Charlie Watts was producing a signature drum set, would you call the plural - Wattae?
the name is Zemaitis - more, are Zemaitis' - like in Zematises.

unless of course, you have a valid explaination.

smile: Zemaitis with an apostrophe is a possessive, not a plural.
(unless the original name were Zemaiti - then Zemaitis' would be the possessive of the plural).
i use Zemaitae as a form of respect-filled humour - sort of a cross between the plural
of species and antenna - i did also consider Zemaites, like the plural of axis or crisis
but i decided i wanted something more visibly plural than that. if you don't like it,
you don't have to use it - how's that? - and/or you can report me to the moderator :E
i believe the real proper plural form in this case is Zemaitis guitars.
