New Counting Crows Album

Finally after a five year wait a new album from Counting Crows due out next Tuesday. Any other fans here? One of the most underrated newer bands imo.

A great band and a long overdue new album!
I think "Recovering the Sattelites" is one of the best rock guitar albums of the 1990s. Seen them live many times, always a unique and amazing experience.

I looked on ticketmaster to see if any shows were upcoming but didn't see any. I have all of their studio albums but have never seen them live nor do I have their live album yet.

I'm a casual fan. I like some of thier stuff. My favorite is "A Long December". Great song.

Surprise surprise. I wasn't aware that this disc would make it to its release before the holiday season this year, even though I watch new releases rumor sites somewhat closely. Does it have a title yet?

Well, I thought Hard Candy has been their best album so far, and to be honest, I consider them more a singles band than an albums band.

I got the release date info from the Rolling Stone fall music preview. I hope it is accurate and the release date hasn't been pushed back.

It is titled "Saturday Nights And Sunday Mornings" and is supposed to have 14 new songs. It is a two part album but not neccessarily a double album. I guess it is kind of like two different sections or themes in the album.

Well it seems like my excitement may have been premature. I read about a November 6th release date online but according to Wikipedia Adam Duritz asked the record company to push back the release date to 2008 so it might not hit the shelves until next year.

It's impossible getting any info from these music websites. The Sam Goody website had no info on it and there are no longer any Sam Goodys in my area so I couldn't call them to find out. Amazon has a release date of Dec. 31 1969 so there is apparently some confusion.

It appears that the album will have two parts. The Saturday Night part will be rockish and the Sunday Morning part will be acoustic and countryish. Sorry for the tease. Let's hope it is worth the wait when it is finally released.

I think this, and the Special Edition of August And Everything After, are pushed back to next year.

In Holland is the Special Edition of August & Everything After released a month ago. I have it!! And the bonus live cd is awesome with "Round Here" as highlight!!

The new cd "Saturdaynight & Sundaymorning" is postponed until 2008

...thanks for the heads up FrankM. I love the Counting Crows. I've seen 'em once. I can't wait to hear something new from them.

Their 1st album is superb, a classic. Recovering the Satellites was about as bad a follow as is possible, and I've not bought anything by them since.

I like "Recovering The Satellites" but I can understand why some people wouldn't. It seems a little too simple sometimes as far as the melodies. "This Desert Life" (the album after Satellites) was better imo and sounded more like the first album. If you liked the first album you will probably like "This Desert Life"

A lot of people think Hard Candy is their best album but imo August... is the best one.

I love their debut album (August) the best, but the others are also very, very good. They all have superb songwriting. Hard Candy is perhaps a little more "pop" than the others. Good stuff, good stuff....

I agree Lukester. The only big dropoff has been saleswise not quality wise. I think all of them are in the same ballpark as far as quality goes and I'm still scratching my head as to why their sales have dropped steadily. August.. was quadruple platinum in the U.S. and the sales have dropped album to album to the point where Hard Candy was only gold. Go figure.

A lot of people are missing out on some good music.

Wasn't the lead singer involved with Ms. Aniston back in the early days of her Friends fame? Hell, that's enough reason to like them alone!

I've always loved this picture!

Yeah the lead singer Adam Duritz dated her for awhile. Not sure how long ago it ended.

Wasn't he also rumored to be involved with Madonna?

There are a few websites out there that specialise in listing new release dates and rumours chronologically. One of those would be www.pauseandplay.com/cdfront.htm
Anyhow, none of those even try to be comprehensive, but remembering when ABB came out, I'm pretty sure they are aware of this message board.

Update; The album will be released Tuesday March 25th. Hopefully it will be worth the nearly six year wait.
