Fears for keith
Posted by: odean73 ()

Is the headline in the daily express this morning. Keith shocked an audience by slurring his words through a speech.
The veteran rocker struggled to get his words out correctly when he accepted his prize for the 2007 screams award in america.

go to the daily express website and there is more info and how ronnie describes the struggle keith had with some songs during the tour.

Qutie right RockMan. What might seem slurring to a newsreporter might sound like Keith's regular "speaking" to us

i think it's a pretty good article. it explains the problem without being patronizing. it shows keith has his usual good attitude and can laugh at himself. at a couple of shows last fall, i saw him blame a few things laughingly on his head injury.

If similar experiences of an aquaintence of mine are anything to go by...Keith may well come off those drugs at some point soon anyway.

Apart from which, Keith had very possibly necked the odd glass of fizzy pop ;^) [He may also not have had a drink and been acting drunk...both possibilities with a historical precedent].
He also gets genuinely shy and tongue tied sometimes.
So let's not start flapping just yet.;^)

We've all seen those quotes and comments in that Express article before. They're taken completely out of context for effect.

What I don't like about the article is the use of Ronnie Wood here. Ronnie's quote is taken out of context. Ronnie is not referring to any cognitive memory loss or brain damage, but to the fact that Keith has written so many great songs so long time ago that he can't even remember all of them. Ronnie's intention is an admiring one, like "I forget more than you ever know" sort of thing ascribed to Keith.

Despite this, there are some serious, honest sounding observations there.

for crying in the dust ... the quote from Ronnie has nothing to do with Keith's surgery -
Darryl says the same thing in the Four Flicks documentary.
it has to do with having written a catalogue of nearly 400 songs.

all kinds of blessings & well-being on Keith & all the Stones

That is such a bullsh*t article, full of rubbish. All that crap about "last week a member of staff at keiths home in connecticut admitted he hasn't been the same since the fall". What, you mean he has mood swings with "those autumn leaves..." ?!

It's so uninformed. I really hate the daily express, I never read this or the daily mail, they are just both terrible 'news'papers.

some people on shidoobee saw this awards ceremony
and none of them said anything about anything being wrong with Keith.
he wasn't at the ceremony - his acceptance was taped.

On this site, we've already had the discussion about Dilantin, and possible slow speach. It's an old issue. Nothing's new. And Keith and occationally slurry speach is certainly NOT a new issue. He's been know for that for about 40 years... I know some people are doing their best to "prove" he's got a brain injury. He once did, but the surgeons fixed it. However he has to be on a drug that prevents the blood from thickening and causing a blood clot.
And btw: Keith pulled off this tour brilliantly. Some shows - he was amazing. On other occations he'd had too much to drink. But all the time he sang beautifully, better than in years. On some occations his playing was not brilliant, but then - on other occations, he was FANTASTIC. People who went to many shows, like Bjornulf (BV), can confirm this too. I met Keith on some occations during this tour, and the lad's fine. Intellectually he's superior to most people I know. And I know quite a few.

Gstone, I have listened to some 15 showes in great audience. Visited none because of the setlists and the way Ronnie and Keith play those days.
On none of the gigs Keith plays 'FANTASTIC' He plays pretty poor mostly and 'very average' on a good night.
What are your standards? I compare him with Townshend, Clapton, Prince, Edward van Halen, etc.

what a load of absolute, malevolent bollocks

'fears growing last night' (its always 'last night' in order to make the story sound 'current')- by whom and for what? based on him doing what hes done for decades - slurring his words and because he stated in an interview 2-3 months ago that hes on medication because of an accident 18 months ago?

kinda overlooks the fact that he managed to act in a film and get through about 80 shows since his accident.

And the 'story' here is what, exactly? Just that some arsewitted 'showbiz' journalist is so behind the times that shes unaware that Keith slurs a bit and that hes on medication?

The Express should stick to their already tiresome obsession with trying to fit up Madeleine McCann's parents and the Royal Family/M15 for causing Princess Di's car crash.

I dont know whats worse. These journalists or the sort of people who should know better but who fall for this crap every time.

Exactly. for @#$%& sake, Mick Jagger forgets words and misses cues on stage almost every show. I suppose we'll read next that he's had a stroke?

I was going to comment on the same thing Doxa, Ronnie and Keith have been telling that story for years, It's been taken totally out of context to try and dramatise this article a bit more.

I think I've bust a button on my trousers....

Most people I know agree too.

I honestly wouldn't be suprised if we see an autobiography or some kind of book in the next year or so.

I DO feel for them, but they need to step out of the limelight in a big way.

whenever i see them on tv or in a newspaper i switch over/turn the page.

.but this is going a bit o.t...so i'd better stop there.
my thoughts/opinions concerning this Cardio surgeon and GP,
are not appropriate for this thread.

I know what you mean, but its really a Catch-22 thing. The very nature of the case means that they have to keep it high profile. However, the press - with no body found and no real leads - have chosen to make THEM the focal point of the story instead, and their reporting has often been absolutely obsessive and totally over the top. I seriously doubt they really WANT to be the centre of attention.

Can understand why people want to switch off, though.

Truly hope Keith is alright.
On the other out of control team mcscamm spin machine, they abandoned their kids on a regular basis while they wnet of to party with their 'friends' so whatever happened to maddie was their doing ie if they'd been normal parents that cared for their kids, maddie wouldn't now be the subject of a hunt for a body.
They are guilty of child neglect, as is everyone else supporting them and as for the fund... I just won't go there

I actually read the printed edition of the paper before I read the link on the website and the printed version is actually worse. It basically has him written off as a vegetable.

Scumbags.
