Licks DVD Twickenham

I don't know if somebody already noticed this, otherwise just ignore it. At the very last part of You Can't Allways Get What You Want you can see the audience from above twice. At the first time I really think it is Twickenham (as an all seated concert). At the second shot from above you can see the diagonal lines splitting FOS with the rest of the floor. Does anybody seen this and does somebody know where the second shot was taken?

A lot of the audience shots are indeed from Amsterdam

Our friend Piotr from Poland can be seen in the crowd footage.
He was indeed in Amsterdam, but nowhere near Twickenham.

Why they did this weird editing is well beyond me.

smile: because Piotr from Poland wasn't at Twickenham!

Those hired chicks, Dutch models?, are pretty hot at the beginning of the Twickenham dvd. I kind of prefer seeing them rather than the otherwise ubiquitous beer belly fellas wearing bermuda shorts.

Simple answer is Amsterdam is a younger crowd (tickets were FAR cheaper). When preserving a concert on celluloid, theyre obsessed with portraying this myth that their core audience are hot young chicks. Theyve done this for years.

The excuse is pretty much photogenic, same as the farce with putting the models down front at the Beacon instead of real fans.

Theyre not the only act who do this when filming of course. Its quite common for TV shows (MTV Unplugged was an example) for the directors to strategically relocate the more photogenic members of the audience to an area near the stage where the cameras could easily pick them out.

Well, that clearly explains why Piotr was on the Licks DVD then. (Although I personally did not notice since I was distracted by the girls from London).

ahem! Piotr wasn't relocated by any directors - he is very good at locating himself,
and then very very good at showing how the music moves him. which is what it's for.

They planned to film amsterdam II for the DVD, so they also filmed amsterdam I for overdubs, but since the amsterdam II was postponed they filmed tickenham, and then used the overdubs from amsterdam 1

Same old crap. Evident on the Biggest Bang DVD as well. On the B-Stage from Saitama, there are tons of audience shots, except it seems that they are from FOS seating! Totally unnecessary. The boot is among the best live Stones on tape. Check it out.

... i get why people felt upset about ultra-coveted Beacon tickets going to non-fans hired as sheer decoration,
but when it comes to filming fans who are there anyway, what in the world is objectionable
about including footage of appealing-looking ones who are visibly enjoying the show??

Agreed, with Sssoul, allthough I can't see why they bother to do so. The London audience were looking just as good as the Amsterdamners
Rolling Stones also included some Vienna footage for At The Max - but no songs.

i reckon the film editors had some reason for choosing Snippet X of audience footage instead of Snippet Z -
it's just not something that seems sinister to me, or objectionable.
i'd just as soon they included no audience footage at all, but when they did that in Ladies & Gentlemen
a lot of people said that sucked too, so ... [shrug!] it's only rock & roll

>> i'd just as soon they included no audience footage at all <<

however, there *is* a second-and-a-half of someone dancing mighty fine during SFTD at Austin.
i admire that every time i watch it. so there.

Some of the best audience shots - are the ones from Let's Spend The Night Together, especially the beginning of Under My Thumb and Beast Of Burden; from Tempe.
Dylan's Hard Rain also has a 1st class audience...

Haven't noticed the dancer in Austin; maybe somebody from this board ?

The average age of the audience members at Austin seemed to be around 21!

I was at both shows, and no footage of me was included.
They left me on the cutting room floor. sad smiley

Still though, after reading what everyone said, I still don't understand why they even bother with this weird editing.
What a waste of time and money.

Just show the damn concert, and the crowd who was at that particular event.
It seems decieving to me that they try and gloss things over like that.
