The subject of private gigs has been on the forum from time to time this year. Well, I had one of my own on Saturday when StikkyFingers played the Hollywood Arms in Chelsea, London, for my birthday celebration.
It was StikkyFingers debut appearance in London and they rocked the joint! Their tagline goes - 'We don't look like the Stones, but we sound like them' - and that is very true. Having only previously heard them on Youtube, I wasn't fully prepared for how good they actually are when performing Live and the intimacy of the venue made that all the more apparent. Mention must also go to the guest guitarist on the night, a certain Mr Jimmy, who had never played with the band before but was giving his Telecaster a thorough workout during the show's second of three sets.

Highlights for me? Little Red Rooster and Wild Horses were superb, as well as the IORR finale when Stikkyfingers and Mr J had a four guitar jam session to the delight of the assembled crowd.

Hear, hear! I second all those comments. They were great and Mr. Jimmy's contribution was the icing on the cake.

Thankyou for your kind words! It certainly was a night to remember for us too. After all the delays and road works to actualy get to the gig, we really enjoyed rocking your party MOWAT! What nice friends you have! We would glady travel to London again for a reception like that!

Indeed it was a fantastic night, I had a great time watching the band, and then joining them for a few songs was really awesome. The finale was especially cool, although bloody loud up there with all them guitars...

There should be I think. After a good rummage through BarRoomQueen's handbag (all I was lookin' for was her camera ... honest guv), I took loads; at least that's MY recollection !! Mind you, I had consumed five Coronas at that point.
