Live Nation U2 Servey

Did anyone else get the Live Nation U2 servey email?

It was a series of questions asking what you would pay to see U2 in a stadium and the various seating location prices.

Also asked about Merch buying habits at shows and on-line, how big of a fan are you, what else do you buy from U2. Does ticket price effect your decision making.

Ticket buying habits, do you support artists new material, is stage show as important as the music and so on.

I would have put a link but after I filled it out and submit it does not allow you to view it again.

It did not allow for additional comments to be added.

He doesn't hate cops, Cops are not suppose to step out of/over the line - PERIOD. If they can't control that aspect of their emotions they should not be cops - PERIOD. It's their decision. Don't you UNDERSTAND people that are given extraordinary power in society (the power to LEGALLY kill - like a soldier) are expected to control themselves much more than some drugged out loser with a gun shooting up a parking lot? It's not a hard concept to grasp......

I'm not even a Springsteen fan but that comment seems infantile.

What? Because he wrote American Skin about the NYPD shooting an innocent black man 41 times when he was reaching for ... his wallet? The song isn't anti-cop. it's anti the kind of racist attitudes which result in innocent people getting shot. If he was anti-cop he wouldn't have written Highway Patrolman.

The NYPD overreacted there and should have taken the time to read the lyrics to American Skin.

Nor would he have played a benefit show for the family of Sgt Patrick King, a New Jersey police officer killed on duty.

What an idiotic comment, you are clearly referring to a specific song, a song itself that deals with a specific incident. I can only infer that you condone that incident. what does that make you ??

if i were the type of person that made ill judged, ill considered comments i reckon it would make you a negro killing cop lover slimeball . but of course you're not anything like that. feck sake man have a word with yourself.

Oh and make sure if you ever have to pull a wallet,I.D. etc from your pocket, make sure its well lit, you do it slow , with finger and thumb oh and don't be black. you wouldnt want your aggrieved friends and family be described as cop hating slime if they as much as raised a whimper should things go pear shaped.

If '41 shots' is cop-hating (an absurd comment), what the f**k is the Stones' 'Heartbreaker' ? (an equally absurd comment)

Selective amnesia. No surprise there.

Regarding the survey, yeah I got it, and basically I said
I would go to a show and pay about mid-range prices to see them.

I'm holding out my big bucks to see the Stones again, preferably in my town this time.

Bone has actually gotten rid of debt for poor African countries. I couldn't even give some lady directions to the Home Depot in my town five minutes ago.

josh.

I THINK U2's contract is about up with Island/Universal. Maybe they are testing their market value? Live Nation just signed Madonna and looking at other acts to follow.

crybaby spoiled jersey trash springsteen wrote a song "41 shots" which basically ridiculed nyc policemen

it was a tragic crime,
41 shots fired by a total of 4 officers, each time a officer shoots his gun multiples bullets come out,

so exactly how many times was the trigger actually shot

I do not know, but apparently springsteen is quite certain that he was confident enough to ridicule the nypd to millions

guys who put there life on the line every night and are very underpaid

the officers told him multiple times to come out of the doorway, it was a dark drug infested area, he didn't listen, he went for a black object,

if you were a officer would you sit there and wait longer to possible get shot or would you protect your fellow officer

plus remember you have maybe 5 seconds to decide

who knows what any of us would have done,

springsteen does however,

he is a piece of garbage
and his new cd reeks worst then the state of new jersey

Your so right doc, I'd have got my bazooka out and blown his bi arse out of the place, maybe get some innocent bystanders while i'm at, a wee kid maybe. so NY cops carry autimatic weapons REALLY !!!! didn't know that and how many times would they have to pule a trigger ? oh yes YOU DONT FECKIN KNOW. so the fact that there are 4 to spread the load lessens it eh ? pity that there wasn't 41 cops, that would have made it only 1 bullit each !! and this dark INFESTED (if it had been clean he would have survived ????) doorway gwad those 4 cops must have been terrified. Springsteen grasp of the facts are clearly better than yours and he doesn't attack the NYPD police force as a whole but this incident in particular.as you say it was a tragic CRIME, your words CRIME get it FECKIN CRIME!!!!!

jeesus go pick any artist and i'm sure they will have attacked some organisation or body you respect, dear god you must hate dylan for instance.

ah yes, these are the lyrics ...

The po-lice in New York City
They chased a boy right through the park
In a case of mistaken identity
They put a bullet through his heart

Heart breakers with your forty four
I wanna tear your world apart
You heart breaker with your forty four
I wanna tear your world a part

A ten year old girl on a street corner
Sticking needles in her arm
She died in the dirt of an alleyway
Her mother said she had no chance, no chance!
Heart breaker, heart breaker
She stuck the pins right in her heart
Heart breaker, a pain maker
Stole the love right out of you heart

Oh yeah (doo, doo doo doo doo)
Oh yeah (doo doo doo, doo doo)
I wanna tear that word apart

Oh yeah (doo, doo doo doo doo)
Oh yeah (doo doo doo doo doo)
I wanna tear that word apart

Heart breaker, heart breaker
You stole the love right out of my heart
Heart breaker, heart breaker
I wanna tear your world apart

Heart breaker, heart breaker
Stole the love right out, stole the love right out

Doo, doo doo doo doo doo
Ah yeah, you shot the kid, he had no chance
Doo doo, doo doo do
Ah yeah, Ah yeah, you stuck pins right in her heart
Doo doo, doo doo do
You heart breaker, I wanna tear your world apart
Doo doo, doo doo do........

oh wait, thats the wrong song - these are the actual lyrics -

[brucespringsteen.net]

Show me where they 'ridicule' anyone?

Absolute paranoid, selectively bigotted bollocks. Like the way you sidestepped the fact hes played benefits for police officers.

>he is a piece of garbage
and his new cd reeks worst then the state of new jersey

yeah, like youre REALLY going to listen to music by someone who you cant stand.

what specfic event does heartbreaker refer to?

Here is the answer:

Re: Live Nation U2 Servey

and YOU personally know what inspired Jagger back in 1972 - how?

So, if (as youre suggesting) he went to the trouble of making a story up for artistic effect, shouldnt that (according to the twisted logic of some people in this thread) make him even more of a 'cop hater' ?

I smell a rat...and I wouldn't trust Live Nation (a subsiduary of ticketmaster) or U2's management as far as I could throw either of them.

The shambolic way by which the latter distributed tickets to fanclub members for their Vertigo tour was bad enough, with ALL of the good seats being creamed off for ticket agencies; but the introduction of a so-called "random ticket number" system for those wishing to gain access to the front-of-stage mosh pit, only added insult to injury.

The actual reality of the situation was that you gained access to the heart if the bouncers liked the look of you. Or the size of your backhander.

A very stinky, unpleasant rat indeed.

duh..all I need to know is you don't know what inspired him or what specific event it is or isn't..so printing the lyrics and relating it to sprinsgteen is inappropriate. Of course mistaken identify happens and people are on death row when they shouldn't be. It happens. So whether it's gimme shelter or heartbreaker they are life events and sung about generally and one should not draw conclusions about the artist's intent. Springsteen went further..he was referring to a specific event and explicitly giving you his intent. Apples and Oranges. Man you are stupid!
