I think I once read that Jagger lost a fortune on the so called black monday in October 1987. This opened the door for the Stones reunion when Michael Cohl offered them millions in 1988.
Question: Does anybody know about Jaggers stock market crash involvment in 1987? Thanks.
The worse thing you can do is bail after a crash, because the market always comes back. (Gains in the market financed my last trip to Europe, where I saw the Stones--tie in!) You just have to move your stocks to companies that do well in a post crash environment, for example........Wait a minute! this is not a financial forum, never mind.
Okay, thanks guys, though I don´t know more than before. Maybe someone else can clear it up. From what I know: Compared to today Mick did not have that much money in the 80ies. Maybe 60-80 millions. Maybe he lost about a third of it. The offer from Michael Cohl came just right.

I'm sure Bill isn't hurting. Maybe his 70 year old bones though!

I seem to remember a website which claimed to have stolen some of Mick's trash from outside his old NYC apartment. In it were some statements about stocks he had recently sold (oil companies if I remember).

Mick told me late one night that he refused to gamble with stocks; his days as a student at the London School of Economics taught him all about that and what to avoid. His happiest day economically was when the Stones were finally through with that ASSH*** Allen Klein, who Mick told me robbed them blind! That was their single-most regretable financial decision but Mick told me they had recovered their wealth and that in private court dealings, Klein was made to pay dearly.
The Dow Jones Industrial (USA stock market) dropped 500 points in Oct. 1987 to around 1,780. It is 14,000 now. If you invested in stock in 1987, you would have well over 7 times the amount of money. Should he have invested in the stock market? Yes!!!
But, the amount of money he makes, how could he care! I got my degree in Economics from the University of California, so it is interesting to me (okay, I guess that is sad to most people though- and I understand).

He probably pays more attention to the Financial Times than he does any entertainment rag, Anyone with money invests (not plays) in the stock market.
