We might have our share of elitist snobs here, but I joined the "Greasy Lake" B Springsteen fan forum back in 2003. I made a couple of posts tonight, and was completely ignored. Those folks don't seem very friendly. Now I remember why I don't spend any time there.

Who else has tried to join other "fan forums", and found the atmosphere, uh, how shall I put it -- inhospitable?

Well I've just begun to scratch the surface of the backstreets forum. BTX. It's alway's tough when your new. But yes people on IORR in general seem more friendly.

Got a login at 'Expecting Rain', but I don't remember me ever posting there.

Signed up at a couple of reggae message boards too, but they were pretty dissapointing, so I never returned.

When I first joined this forum back in Jaunuary I felt people were very cold and clicky, I made a couple of posts that didn't go down well with the members and was shot down in flames. I saw other posts with similar humour and people thought they were great. BUT over the months I carried on and it doesn't seem so bad now. Maybe all forums are like that, you have to get known first!

It is a general feeling that here can be clicky - but its not so bad if you stick with it..
I read a post on Mickjagger.com yesterday that some woman newbie posted on here but couldnt stick it cos of this so called clickyness- which i felt was a shame cos im sure if she had perceviered, she would love it now...
take the rough with the smooth...sometimes you get heckled for saying ridiculous stuff here other times you can get into some good chat from a decent post...

i found that a lot of my workmates (who are definately non stones fans) show an interest in this site.. not from a stones point of view, but from shear good fact and ultimately, OT posts which may appeal to them...there is something here for everyone..

which i think is healthy for this place...

there's clique's and rudeness on all forums.
ignore the fools - and do your thing.

I definitely thought there was a clickiness at first here, but you know what? I was the outsider tryin to step into the warm friendly circle, and I'm very glad that I've stuck it out. Even if I do get bashed for being a HUGE (though not as HUGE as the Stones) Bon Jovi fan! And I'm sure Gazza will have something to say about my liking of Human Touch and Lucky Town as well LMAO. But it's all good - there's lots of love on here; a genuine sense of caring and concern; and some very nice and interesting people on here - I'd name some that come to mind offhand, but then I'd be afraid that I'd leave someone out and hurt someone feelings by accident. This site is one of the things I look forward to about coming to work each day smiling smiley

Forums in general are 'clicky'. I have trawled thru loads, they all have their share of bigots, know-alls, dullards and clowns. I hardly post now - too much trouble for very little reaction. It becomes like a one sided conversation with yourself, pretty pointless.
There is a forum for nearly every subject and nearlty every person living or dead - maybe except Rudolf Hess.
It used be fun to post here - I look now at the interesting news stuff, but there is too much time wasted pontificating over nonsensical rubbish.
Anyway have fun.

To me (and there are lots of good folks on both), Rocks Off and Shidoobbee are a lot more clickish (cliqueish?) than here.

I first met Rockman on that tap dancing site. Thought he was Fred Astaire for a moment until his wild side was revealed.

My impression re IORR is many intelligent posters who actually read and think as well as truly appreciate The Rolling Stones.

Well I don't wanty to bash any boards. I've taken peeks or more and all of them. I joined IORR and Rocks Off not more than a month apart. I have over 4500 posts here and just over 200 at RO. You tell me what's more cliqueish?.......But there is nothing wrong with being a Rolling Stones fan. No matter how you express it.

Honey, you could fire 10,000 volts through me and I couldn't be excited about the Maple Leafs! Not since Ian Turnbull scored 6 goals in 1 game, since Dougie Gilmour wore his litte cow legs in the Milk ads, since... since... since... (to mix a left coast baseball metaphor, for your amusement) anybody here knew how to play this game!!!!! Why, has the season started?

Are they on strike. Does the winking smiley want more money than the smiling smiley?............Enquiring minds want to know.smiling smiley

I've gone to other message boards for info but that was more because I did a search for something and came across them. As funny as it sounds if I want to ask an opinion on other bands besides the Stones I'd rather ask people here. I am familiar with a lot of people here and enjoy their knowledge and perspective on other bands as well. I am American but have been on this European message board for many years now. I guess I just enjoy hearing what people here say over other Stones-related boards. Also prefer more diverse people and opinions from all different parts of the world.

And I was just thinking the other day, I am looking for Dylan's Hard Rain show, and when I was thinking where to find it, first place I thought of was IORR. Would rather find a person here to make a trade with rather than some random Dylan site I am not familiar with.
