Gus Coral's book of photo's - The Rolling Stones : black and white blues, 1963 - is one of the very best photo books on The Stones, EVER.

Published in the UK in 1995 (did it ever get across the pond?) it records very early days and contains some fan-bloody-tastic images.

I unreservedly recommend it.

Habit, addiction, not really big difference, they are just different words, pretty much synonymous. Took me about ten years after physically stopping smoking those things to actually have "quit" in my mind. Pretty strong habit, I admit, but habit, addiction or whatever it was, glad to put it in the rear view mirror.

I think its been clinically shown that kicking nicotine is worse than kicking smack in several ways, one obviously being you can pop into a corner store and get cigs. But the connections in the brain are harder to break with nicotine than just about any other substance known to man with possible exception of meth or crack cocaine.

Paint It Black, nope, how about a title of a bootleg record from back in the seventies I think.

Brian Jones ... He's the Rollin Stone-a rolling stone.
In the 1960s, he demonstrated his strong musicianship and led Mick and Keith to form the Rolling Stones. The black slide guitar and blues harp, which are as good as a black bluesman, are the best in the London music scene at that time. At the end of the wandering, the father of four illegitimate children at the age of 20, his pop looks, and the IQ135 genius who masters every instrument in a few days. The true Enfant terrible-the terrifying children-is Brian Jones itself. This work is a thorough compilation of the famous performances left in the world by Brian in collaboration with Stones and other artists. A total of 25 songs in chronological order, with only valuable takes that cannot be heard in the official version. In the IBC demo before debut and "Come On", he focused on the blues harp without playing the guitar. As Little Walter (harp) is next to Muddy Waters, he has already reigned over the Stones in the standing position of the bluesman since his debut. "Money" where you can hear such a strong harp, "Let's fall in love" at the BBC. "Not Fade Away" is an early version before the two harp playing styles were devised. Peter & Gordon's "A Mess Of Blues" is a masterpiece with a full-length harp. Keith and Brian play the high and low vivid twin guitars, "Bright Lights, Big City" and "Hi-Heel Sneakers" are two songs that are must-haves, especially "19th Nervous Breakdown" does not officially exist A treasure sound source that is a clearly separated stereo mix and another take. Oops, don't forget, the intense slide guitar explodes with "Down In The Bottom" in the 1964 dream chess studio recording and "I Can'" on the BBC. "t Be Satisfied" is a masterpiece of M. Waters! In the early days, Brian had more choruses than Keith, and in addition to "Fortune Teller (Studio version!)" And "Poison Ivy" without guilloch, Jaguar & Richards' early composition demo has not been released yet. Also "It Should Be You". Recorded as a pseudo live on the live board "Got Live",
"I've Been Loving You Too Long" is the first CD version of the miracle studio version! The rare "Tel Me" misshipment take, "Kellogg's Rice Krispies", which is said to be made by Brian, and the theme song of the phantom movie "A Degree Of Murder" in which Jimmy Page participated in 1967 are a great achievement! It is a compilation where you can enjoy Brian's various masterpieces such as another version of the mid-term masterpieces with clear sitar and dulcimer, "Ruby Tuesday" with beautiful recorder, and "Under My Thumb" with marimba.

Live In Los Angeles 1954 captures the father of the electric blues, Muddy Waters, at the peak of his powers, in a riveting performance that easily explains an immense reputation that continues to this day.

Muddy and his band were appearing at one of deejay and impresario Gene Norman’s legendary blues and jazz promotions at the Shrine Auditorium, which drew unprecedented mixed race crowds to hear some of the best talent the black music world had to offer. Their twenty minute set includes the blues classics made famous by Muddy, ‘Hoochie Coochie Man’ and ‘I Just Want To Make Love To You,’ along with exciting romps through ‘Baby Please Don’t Go’ and ‘I’m Ready,’ and there is the bonus of a brief interview with the great man.

The tape of the performance has lain in the Crescendo vaults for decades, until dusted off for this special issue. The sound quality is sensational for a recording of such vintage, and the package is presented on 10-inch vinyl in a deluxe tip-on sleeve, with art in the mode of the iconic early 1950s Gene Norman Presents releases.
