Just thought it would be a nice idea to let other people know that the USA is not the only place with "interesting" people in public life.

Rare Robert Johnson 78rpm test pressing up for sale was sold on eBay

An unissued test recording of Robert Johnson’s ‘Traveling Riverside Blues’, captured on 20th June 1937, is up for sale on eBay.

Posted by 78s trader bombastium, the super rare piece of the Robert Johnson catalogue was recorded in Dallas at what would be his last ever session, just over a year before he passed away. The track was not officially released until 1961 and the compilation King of the Delta Blues Singers.

An alternate version of ‘Traveling Riverside Blues’ was also recorded but considered lost until it made an appearance on the 2011 album The Complete Recordings (The Centennial Collection). It was also famously covered by Led Zeppelin in 1969.

While details on the listing are relatively sparse, the test pressing appears to have belonged to blues historian Don Kent, whose vast collection of 78s has been used for many blues reissues over the years.

Gosh I know two grand is two grand and it's just a record but come on. does not that seem a little bit of an actual bargain for a piece of history that important?
I guess they don't need it for a master; it's already been on King of Delta Blues and all that, so i don't see it as a particular money-maker per se...
...it's just the record not the rights to the authorship or production itself i would think, but still...i mean people pay more than that for one concert ticket these days...
...i would not but people do...fascinating find in any case...wow that acetate is 80 years old!!
Gosh a vintage Gibson or Fender could run someone 10, 20 grand or more...
i mean it's all perspective and all that; but to me this is like finding gold in California in 1849 or something...i really appreciate being able to see it and thank you for posting it!!

Nice article from a 1982 newspaper I came across Showing Mick is not as mean as people make out

My Dad had saved the paper for history because of the Falklands war story on the cover.
