YCAGWYW single ver.

On Let It Bleed You Can't Always Get... has 7:29. However, according to Wikipedia, when it was released as a Honky Tonk Women b-side it had 4:50. Never had a chance to listen to HTW single so there's my question: was this edited album version of YCAGWYW (if so, what did they cut out) or was it a completely different version?

The single edit missed out the choir singing the first verse, and also misses a verse out completely I think, haven't got the cd to hand (I went down to the demonstration?)

Same version edited down. The choir is cut from the original and i think maybe a verse and a chorus although i may not be completely accurate to precisely what. Definitely not a rerecording, however.

The edited version is available on Singles Collection.

Thanks. That's what I thought. However choir part isn't long. I can't check it right now, but I would say it has maybe 40-50 seconds. Having it edited out we still have about 1:30 to edit if we want do end up with 4:50 track. So it made me curiuos wheter they faded out it earlier or cut something else out. Does anybody remember which verse is missing?

I heard the single first, one of the first RS 45s I bought (didn't get LIB 'til '72 or '73, old enuff to start delving into the catalog) so for quite a while it was the one I knew & loved...The London label had the time listed as 5:00, a nice round number.

It was pretty radical at the time for a single (even a B-side) to break past the 5-minute mark. "Hey Jude" was pretty long but that was an exception.

Does anyone know if the choir was added to the recording after the single was released? There was a period of several months between the release of the HTW single and "Let It Bleed."

apparently the choir parts were added on march 15th 1969.
(that's from nzentgraf.de, as usual!)

I remember buying the HTW single. Couldn't listen to YCA... but I was all of ten years old. It would take somebody lending me "Exile" to start sniffing around this band.
