I got lucky & won some contest where my wife & I got to see them at a private soundstage at Fox Studios. They were filming it for some yahoo internet show. The place was only about 2-300 people...the band did 3 songs, answered questions from the audience, 3 more songs...more questions...3 more songs. It was a little weird with all the bright lights & cameras...but it was great fun...right up front against the rail. Then we flew up to SF to see the 2 shows at the Fillmore...including Iggy's 60th B-day.

Just a great show & great times...EVERYONE should see the Stooges...and if not...see Iggy solo...just outstanding.

You guys should've seen the Exile On Stooge St. compilation I made (it was a song-by-song Stooge answer to Exile). I used outtakes, bootleg stuff and studio material (I actually had to use some Kill City stuff too to make it work). It came out pretty well. I gave the only copy I made to a friend, but I'll see if I can re-create it if anyone's interested.

There are not enough superlatives to accurately describe the Stooges.

What, no "L.A. Blues"?
My Stooges/Iggy core collection is:

Funhouse (1970)
The Stooges (1969) both now 2-cd sets or 180 gram all analog vinyl on Sundazed
Raw Power (1973) as I said they should have both mixes on one CD
The Idiot (1977)
'I Got A Right'/'Gimme Some Skin' single, 'I'm Sick Of You'ep

...then it gets more subjective, I like most of Lust For Life ('77), followed by New Values ('79), Kill City, Rubber Legs (73-74), Instinct ('88), and on the next level down Zombie Birdhouse ('82), TV Eye ('78), Party ('81)....then it's pick through the rest for occasional gems...

Cosmoprim, you upload that collection to sendspace or gigasize or rapidshare or wherever, I'd love to have it. My e-mail is public.

I saw them in 2003 and they played more than these 8 songs. In fact, only LA Blues and We Will Fall were missing from the albums plus 3 songs played by the Stooges from Ig's last solo album.

It seems that they don't play songs from the new album except My Idea of Fun.

I'm glad for this thread. Did anyone see them at the Wiltern in LA? Who was the opening band? No, not that horrible chick group!! I recognized Phil from Motorhead on drums. Who were the others? They weren't that bad, I'd see them again.

No the best Stooges playlist is "I Got A Right" ten times in a row at full volume, naked with a wet towel wrapped around your head after consuming a bottle of tequila. Then the nexy day you go surfing at Waimea Bay.

they should really reintroduce the Raw Power tunes... it hurts to have them on the sideline.

That will never happen, because James Williamson took himself out of the picture. The basic original band made just two albums. The core is Iggy and the Asheton brothers.

What you gotta understand is that were two Stooges bands. The first was based on the riffs of Iggy, Ron & Scott. The other, which produced Raw Power, was basically Iggy & James. Ron & Scott were just backup musicians for this collaboration. It was predestined to fail.

I'll posit this -- if Iggy & James had joined up with the Sales brothers, they might've created some phenomenal material. We will never know.

I understand this. but I think they should get over it. Much as I like the first 2 albums, the 2nd one especially, the songs on Raw Power are better. by the time they get to something like "Little Doll," I'm really wanting something like "Shake Appeal."
