Mrs Phleghm drove me around my mate Seans yesterday for the GAA final Cork Vs Kerry. Sean is from Kerry myself from Cork. Anyway I sat into the car and The stones mx CD blated out. I put my hand out to eject it and Mrs Phlegm shouted "leave it alone" undetrered i took it out (i'm not afraid of girls smiling smiley the radio kicked in before I could replace it with my CD and waht was playing ??? Under MY Thumb (on some local oldies but goldies station) " that will teach you" laughed Mrs Phleghm. Today at work I was in the work van and what was coming out of the radio when we turned the ignition ? YUP Da Stones !!!!!!!

i thought you were going to say that mrs. phleghm finally saw the light about the stones and didn't want you to change the music...

what does "blated out" mean?

speaking of bizzare - it was 30 days ago today (maybe 31 days) I was driving from Cork to Kerry (Dingle Town) Listening to my stones CDs when my son asked if he could put on My Chemical Romance. I told him Nothing but the Stones until after the Show tomorrow Night (Sept.18)! He dropped the issue.

"blated" is either short for "bleated" or a typo-fied "blared" - i'm guessing the latter.
either way, give my regards to Mrs Phlegm - "that'll teach you" indeed :E

it comes into it as a form of mild humour, and/or as a close relative of "blate": [www.wordwebonline.com]
and if "blated" isn't a typo ... do you and Nanker Phlegm live in the same area?
just curious whether it's some regional idiom. "blared" is what i'd say.

Where I'm from "blart" is a very rude schoolboy word. I don't think it's the regional idiom you're looking for.

to make it even more complicated to me "blart" means to cry - im from shropshire if it makes any difference?

>> im from shropshire if it makes any difference <<

ahh, that explains everything!
well, maybe not everything, but ... something, i'm sure!
meanwhile, i'm still betting on the typo-fied "blared" -
Mr Phlegm's good at typos :E

thanks - i got it now - my first understanding was correct. it was the stones on the CD, nanker was going to take it out, and did despite his wife's protest - now why he'd take it out, i don't know - that further confused me.
