For the more soul & R&B inclined, I could hear the Stones doing "If Loving You Is Wrong, I Don't Wanna Be Right" by Luther Ingram from 1974.

Also, "Valentine" from the Replacements' great record, 1987's Pleased to Meet Me has Stones running all thru its veins.......

The pretender's My City Was Gone has a gituar weaving sound that is similar to the late 70s early 80's stones. kind of a bluesy-country-rock sound to it.
