Unless you question when Get A Line On You was recorded, I'm only making a very simple point. If the song was originally recorded in 1968, Mick Taylor was not a member of The Rolling Stones, plain and simple. Therefore, why would he be entitled to receive writing credits ON THIS PARTICULAR SONG.

I don't for a minute think that he didn't get ripped off on writing credits on a number of the songs that were written during his tenure with the band. I don't think that his contribution was just to come in and play the solos; I believe it was more than that. However, on this song, I don't think he has a reasonable reason to gripe.

If I were in the room, am I correct in assuming that I would have seen you there?

Bone - Eternal Youth???

Have you looked closely at his face?? There's quite a few wrinkles there,

Have always wondered why he didn't do anything about that?

Even Frank Sinatra got a face-lift. Now that would make Mr. Jagger look: Younger.

Oh for goodness sake why is this thread suddenly about Mick Taylor? Play nicely children or maybe BV'll send you to your rooms...

CousinLou how wonderful that you got into the showing, I'm so envious of you! Do you think it was the final version that you saw and if not what do you think might be changed?

It's lucky that L'Wren was sitting behind you, not in front of you. Otherwise I'm guessing your view would have been severely restricted smiling smiley

The film is something to look forward to during the long winter

You know, this is a funny title for a movie about the Stones, as, according to Leon Russell, he wrote the song....originally titled " (Can't Seem to) Get A Line On You"....

i just watched the trailer again: [www.shinealightmovie.com]
where it says they "played some songs never performed live before"
what are they talking about - Champagne & Reefer? okay so Charlie didn't play on it
at the Checkerboard Lounge in 81, but Keith, Ronnie and Mick did.
someone should tell Marty (and while you're at it tell him we need Connection all in one piece!)

Miller - Let's see, Taylor & Jagger go into the studio and out comes a song
called: Shine A Light???

It's not listed on the Album as: Get a Line On You
it's not listed on the Album as written by; Leon Russell

But since the only thing we know, for sure is that Taylor's playing the main lead in the number?? hum...

Guess your right, he shouldn't get any writing credit for that one..

Keith deserves it..

I like Bro's idea...credit it to RINGO! He played on it, so he obviously wrote it--after all, he was a Beatle. hehehehe

I don't flatter myself enough to think that I add wit, however I don't go attacking people for trying to offer up a plausible explanation.

Personally I think you owe a few people here an apology. Whether or not you are a big enough person to do so....

Re: Shine A Light!

Apology for what?

plausible explanation?? to say that the song was written years ago by someone
else is a reason not to give someone credit who helped "mold" the current

"creation" ??? (Shine A Light - from Exile on Main Street)

that's not very "plausible" to me..

If someone offers up some solid facts to backup a statement, I'll give them credit and offer a apology, if needed..

Ok, but why did you have to jump down their throats?

Why are you taking this so personally, were you there, did you write the damn song? What the @#$%& do you care? Some of the people you are shitting on love Mick Taylor too. Jesus Christ.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

funny winking smiley
wonder why he did that......only legit reason to me.....technical difficulties
with audio or film cameras. i doubt that was the case...especially
if it was played both nights. was it?

and...for a while there was talk about re-shooting some bits.
just an untrue rumor? or did they actually do this?

re: the shine a light/Mick Taylor argument......i'll go with WMiller's post.

I don't think i've heard the '68 version on the Leon Russell disk (no mention of MT).
Obviously that tune was revisited a couple years later for Exile
and Taylor played on it. I don't know if he played something
similar to the '68 recording or started over from scratch.
If it is at all similar (and MT was not part of its conception)...no credit.

I'm not even sure why this turned into an argument.
(I also heard the interview where Mick said that he was the only current
Stone on that studio recording...mentioned Taylor's playing. Playing does not equal writing)

IORR............but I like it!

nope - Keith did Little T&A at the first Beacon show and Connection at the second.
choosing to chop up Connection is ... ow ow ow ow ow [lighting more incense for the bonus tracks]

Mick Taylor knew the score before he joined the band--Jagger/Richards writing credits (just like Lennon/McCartney). Ronnie doesn't seem to have a problem with it (i know he has been credited on some songs).

ANSWERS: "why was Ellen Barkin there?"

I think Mick is friends with Ellen Barkin, judging from the way he said "HI Elllllllle" when he saw her. I think Mick and L'wren left the theatre with Ellen and her male friend. Possibly out to dinner somewhere.

"Do you think it is the final cut?"
There was a production guy named David who came up in front of the attendees before the film started to roll. He explained that it is not the final cut, that certain things are not 100% finished, such as the credits. When he was finshed speaking, Mick said aloud, "Thank You David!"

I was talking to my friend after the showing and he explained that it cost $15,000 to rent out the theater for the night and it may have been just for Mick. It appears Martin Scorcese had a previous showing.

Thanks for posting all of this, Cousin Lou. Are you still with the girl Mick almost married back in '68?
