I donĀ“t know what "best" means? These are some of my favorite bands / musicians - in recent years... Stones definately being my longest and most true love!
Stones Neil Young Hendrix Clapton J.J.Cale
Miles Davis Dylan Grateful Dead Beastie Boys Talking Heads
not much here for QUEEN -- not my personal choice but they are up there in official polls... and their music is widely known... & no-one could doubt they could play a stadium..
The Stones are my favorite, but the Beatles gotta go #1. Even Mick said; "You can't overestimate the Beatles". Somehow, even though The Stones are my faves, I put Zep in at #2, Stones solid at #3, Dylan #4, Mick's voice/vocals helped open the door for Dylan's voice/vocals to be on the radio. (if it's gotta be bands, maybe I put the Dead here, & yes, I too, am a former Deadhead). #5 like a lot of us could change on any given day. Interesting how much we are all alike.

sry, whitem8, went away for awhile and didnt see your question. Yes I do like the Who's new one. I think it is in a classic vein with some of their best. Mike Post Theme, It's Not Enough, Man in A Purple Dress, Black Widows Eyes, We Got a Hit, are all great songs. I like Face Dances, but Endless Wire is a better album, and its certainly better than It's Hard. Given the Who's notorious past for making albums, if Endless Wire is their swan song, it will certainly be a better ending than Its Hard.
