The Last Show? Or are we all in denial
Date: September 11, 2007 22:13

I watched this rs.com clip again and does anyone think the implied message was that London was indeed the "last show" ever?

You can see and hear the melancholy and sadness that they are finshed, yet they seemed relieved.

Mick comes across as "fed up" with the whole 3 year thing.

I couldn't really understand too much of what Keef was saying...but I did hear him use the word "fearful" and he was reflective and crying too...

I noticed Ronnie is smoking again.

Charlie mentioned it's the only thing he knows, will he jazz drum next?

That clip appeared to be an "epilogue" to a glorious 45 year career.
Will they truly continue to perform or are we all simply in denial, fearing the natural end?
Can somebody please confirm Spring 2008 tour dates?

Wasn't the last show, I guess we know that already by now? Not official, but there is no doubt for me. That video is very well made, btw.

As have been said, no tour is indicated; but a limited bunch or series of gigs.

Asian dates in February and March! London was NOT the last show. I thought everyone had catched that by now. Especially someone who calls himself NumberOneStonesFan... Could one suggest you take a look at the News section on this board? BV has great sources in the camp.

Well, I hope you're absolutely right. It's just the rs.com video clip title "THE LAST SHOW" all in caps was a little eerie and then you feel the tone of the clip and put it all together and it's like wow.

The venue locations and event dates would be nice and welcome indicator that the show will go on.

Keith was reflective, yes - but he wasn't crying. he was wiping rain off his shades.

It's only September... We're talking February and March. Be a little patient, man.

Event dates might not be an indicator but close to a proof? smiling smiley

Yes, even rumoured or fake dates would be nice... 5 or 6 months from an event is typically when event dates are firmed up and venues are secured, so it's not too early...now is when it should be happening.

Well I can speak for Hawaii and West coast events, not sure how it works in Europe but we typically know of shows appx 5 or 6 months from the date and tickets on sale 4 or 5 months out from the event date.

Case in point- The Stones had a show scheduled for Honolulu for Nov 22 2006 and it was announced in May 2006. Formal talks began in June and the venue was secured by August, tickets went on sale in September. The show was eventually cancelled due to paltry ticket sales and they played Dodger Stadium on Novermber 22 instead.

But the whole timeline from initial event announcement to actual event date is 5-6 months out here.

Relax everyone...haven't you all figured it out by now that they are something special...I became a huge Stones fan around Emotional Rescue - Tattoo you era...and I thought I was hooking on to a band at the end of their career...turns out it wasn't even the half way point...look...their own idols are still out there doing it...they just made more money than they ever have...it is far from over...give the guys some rest...they'll come out again smoking hot and the lengend will only get bigger...there will never be another band that is together for 45 years and who basically started off at the beginning of the modern music business and made it what it is...the fame, the money, the fans, the power, the fun, the music, the road, the lifestyle will get them on the road once again...these guys can never be couch potatos...

Spring 2008...maybe a bit too soon but I wouldn't bet against it...

I'm feeling Spring 2009 U.S. tour...followed by Europe in the fall.

july 20th 2006 and the autumn North American dates still hadn't been announced,
so why are you expecting to hear dates for next spring now? classic withdrawal symptoms, i tell you.

Well some people thought they'd stop after '72, I imagined '82, especially with Charlie, Keith, & Mick all putting out first real solo albums. Who knows? Do they know? After these evident dates in '08 (if they happen), before every tour I suppose they have a band meeting, look at a variety of issues - desire, money, health, sense that they can do it - and decide.

Nope..the tour was announced on 25 July 2006. Just 8 weeks before opening night.
The negotiations for shows may have started some months earlier but there wasnt even a whisper of what venues and dates they would be playing until not long before the announcement

Additionally, as you can see here - [iorr.org] - Honolulu wasnt even confirmed until September 20th. The same date that the tour began. It was cancelled on 31st October.

If youre only going to do a short tour (which will probably be the norm in future) then you dont need announcements 6 months in advance.

It was announced on KPOI FM radio out here in Hawaii before it was officially listed on the internet...the DJ had a tour insider on the air and the November date was announced, it was announced as a "really strong rumor" at that point.

I probably am having withdrawal symptoms too, no doubt there.

Sure hope we aren't going to have to wait for THAT to happen before we get another Stones show. I can give up the sex, but not the drugs and the rock 'n' roll, dear lord not that!!!

relax onnya - i meant only the withdrawal-symptom medications that nr1 will be needing if he doesn't get a grip soon.
the fun stuff is another story altogether.

Yes - but its still just a rumour and wasnt confirmed. How many times have you read on here in recent months about some radio DJ in the US 'announcing' that the Stones are playing a local show in the near future. Well, they wont be in 2007 as we know (even though some posters seem to like to still convince themselves they will be).

Rumours will always go around for weeks/months beforehand. Like I said, they have to make tentative plans to sound out venues MONTHS before any announcement. Some leak, some dont - and some turn out to be bullshit or plans change. There have been rumours already for next year as you're no doubt aware, but to expect any rock solid dates just yet is way too premature.

Similar to the ABB tour, the Stones have set aside a sizeable gap in the itinerary to fit in their European tour.

It's right there in between Vegas and LA. April 13 at the 02.
