Don't agree with some of you who think Mick is nothing without the Stones. I have all his solos and think he is a really good musician, some of his songs are simply better than those with the Stones.
"wandering spirit" is a great album and goddess in the dorway is really great.

Anyway i m pleased to join you in this forum.
PLEASE TO MEET YOU.

I don't think Mick's nothing without the Stones but he seems kind of incomplete although a number of his songs have been pretty good.

Jagger was a terrific solo artist. In 1993.

Mick jagger is brilliant as a solo artist, most of the music he makes is good, come to think of it stones e.rescue, dirty works were poor cds.Mick will be rocking when he is 90,long live mick.

to be honest, as much as i love mick in the stones, if he were never in the stones and he was just a solo act i would never even think of buying his music, there is nothing there in my opinion, a couple of good rockers maybe, but people like clapton, sting , townsend, mick doesnt even come close to them as a solo act, iam not going to say mick is great as a solo artist just to be loyal to him

Wandering Spirit is classic.
The work with the Red Devils is good.
Blue is fantastic.

He's a good movie producer as well...

quite a few stones songs in that set

I think his solo work is ok but his voice is so distinctive I think I'm basically listening to the Stones (yeah I know a lot of the actual backing is not Stonsey).

I think the problem Mick has as a solo artist is quite simply it's only going to be Stones fans that buy his stuff. I can hardly imagine someone going in to HMV and thinking 'Hmmmmm. Think I'll try this Mick Jagger.'

"I'll be in my basement room with a needle and a spoon."

I like very much all his solo efforts!

He is indeed a great musician, and his solo woks allows him to to whatever he wants to, at the moment in his carrer without thinking too much of his Stones´legacy.

I enjoy most of Mick's solo work. Its kind of unfair to compare his solo stuff to that of Clapton or Sting. Mick did his solo stuff to do something different than what the Stones do. Clapton is a guitar player, no matter what band he is on or if he is solo, it doesn't really change how he does his thing, basically it always comes down to him and his guitar. Mick will always be known as the singer of the Stones.. So when he does something different people all over him and dismiss his work very fast. And thankfully, many hits that Mick has written he chose to do as Stones songs.

I agree whole heartedly with the first post. Mick's stuff is amazing. I wish really bummed when I found out that the "new cd" is a greatest hits and not a new studio album.

"some" of them are indeed better than some of the 350 or so songs that the Stones have released - yes

Or are you suggesting that "some" of them are better than anything he's done with the Stones?

perhaps he should suggest this: Wandering Spirit is the best "stones" album of the post-tattoo you era.

I thought talk is cheap was the best stones album since 81

YOU UNDERSTAND ME VERY WELL. SOME OF HIS SOLO SONGS ARE BETTER THAN SOME WITH THE STONES. "DIRTY WORK" album was horrible, for me "steel wheels" was not so good..
They did a good, really good come back with the "voodoo lounge", great album.

I think Mick got so much charm, he is so sexy, sensual with all his "mimiques" i m sure if the Stones stops he will be followed by millions of people.
And i would even say if his solo carreer doesn't work better it's because he 's (first of all) with the Stones. Sorry but it's my point of view.

Christ...that doesnt say much...even Bill Wyman has done a few songs that are better than the very worst of the Stones back catalogue...

Still doesnt mean that his solo output is anything that'll cause Bob Dylan to lose much sleep....

Well dear Gazza i will be more direct so.. A song like "it's only rock and roll" or a "tumbling dice" are for a lot of fans hits.. But for me "wandering spirit", "wired all night" "sweet things" are from far better.
