saw chuck yesterday on a 3 days open air festifal in hameln (germay)
he needs no big audience and have had a lot of fun.
was no problem to get access to him, because a friend of my also was playing on the festifal with his band
i had a short chat with him and he signed a photo, which i shot a year before.

Hi Heinz, I was there, too. Strange we didn't meet as there were only about 80-100 people in the tent. I was one of the two guys wearing the IORR shirt and I made a few pictures, too. Will put them up later. Talked to Chuck before the show but I didn't ask him about more Stones shows to come. I only mentioned that I was hoping for more Stones shows in the future and his reaction was very diplomatic: "Well, we'll see." The set he played was very solid and it was enjoyable. Chuck is such a nice person and a brilliant keyboard player. He played Honky Tonk Women, Route 66, Alberta, Tumblin' Dice, Statesborough Blues, Jessica and a few numbes of his own albums.

yes rrronie,

i saw you yesterday and also in hamburg, i think.
the question about more stones shows was exact the question, i did`t want to ask
him.
So i said to him and he was laughing.

If he got more shows in Germany, and you catch him.
Ask why we didn't get Under My Thumb.
Will never forgive them (Mick), uhu, ok, maybe, etc.

well, we know that there will at least be a US tour next year and probably some dates in the far east as well. I dont think there was any need to ask him "the question" unless you want to know about locales other than those I just mentioned.

But more importantly:

How was his hotel room?
Where did he have dinner?
Where did he go shopping and did he buy anything?

Am I the only person who, when seeing the title of this thread, was scouring through the photos looking for an 80 year old black man playing a guitar?

Funny, Gazza, but my first thought was Charlie !!!

One man´s Chuck isn´t the other man´s Chuck. I prefer
the other Chuck, too, btw.

Great, Gazza, that you weren´t thinking about the third Chuck - the one
with a bazooka in hands.

Who are the other musicians in his band? Is Chuck using them for all his upcoming shows?

And, rrronie, I think I used to know you as wahwahwoody. What happened? Don't you like that pedal any more or are you just hiding from your past? smiling smiley

Yes, seeing the new thread my first reaction was "oh good...Chuck Berry."

Don't know if the Southern boys of IORR will agree, but Billy Powell of the original Skynyrd is an amazing pianist. Too bad he's not been given the prominence he deserves.

Anyone who was at the Omni in Atlanta on New Year's Eve 1980 to see the short-lived Rossington Collins band will never forget the lengthy special intro to "Free Bird" that night.

Hi latvianexile,
the musicians in his band were all German (except the guitar-player who might be English) and yes, I think he has hired these musicians especially for his shows in Germany. Btw, they were solid, had never heard of or seen them before.
Yes, I used to post under the other name you mentioned, and no, I'm not hiding from my past. I will tell you about the name change next time we meet. On the other boards I post from time to time is still the "old" name I use.

rknuth,
when and where did he say that?

TE,
greetings from Germany. Miss you and your humour. We must meet again. And I won't forget Copenhagen ..."sad sad sad"
