I will write a book when they finish touring, but as long as they tour I don't have any time.

Wow, what a tour. How do I properly express my feelings on it? The first Stones tour I remember was the ’81 Tattoo You tour. I remember it vividly because I was too young to go according to my parents. I ended up having dinner with my folks at the Sizzler(seriously) while my two brothers were at Rupp Arena taking in the band. I remember my brothers telling me about the show. I couldn’t wait until I was old enough to see the boys. Well, I saw every tour since then. But it wasn’t until this tour, that I had the means to see more than what was just in my area. My tour started in Anaheim, then went to two shows at the Hollywood Bowl, then to San Francisco, then Memphis, then St. Louis, then the Forum, then Radio City, then two shows at Twickenham, then Louisville, then Austin, then Las Vegas, and finally the last show in London. I know it’s silly, but I had never traveled abroad until this tour. It literally changed my life. I fell in love with Europe. Anyway, I got to meet a lot of great fans along the way. Got to hear a TON of great music. This band is what it is all about. When they are done, forget about it. Sure, there is a lot of great music out there, but there is no one that can take up where the Stones left off. U2? Maybe. But they aren’t pioneers. Ladies and Gentlemen we are seeing the guys who started it all. I’m sad because I know my kids will never get to experience this. And this thing that we’ve all got to see is really special. You will not see this again. There will never be another band that has the same history and influence as the Stones. It just won’t happen. We have all been witnesses to the greatest live musical event that will ever happen. I’m happy about that. I hope there will be more opportunities but I don’t know. At their age I don’t think any of us know. I do know that hearing Midnight Rambler so many times on this tour was magical. All Down The Line rocked my world. Hearing Sway for the first time live was nothing short of amazing. Being in Austin for Learning The Game was unbelievable. And as much as I would love to hear rarities such as Winter or Jigsaw Puzzle, I’m still happy to hear me some Jumpin’ Jack Flash and Brown Sugar. I mean, c’mon! It’s Jumpin’ Jack Flash and Brown Sugar. I know some reviews were less than stellar, but I was never disappointed for one second at any of the shows I attended. It’s hard to describe the electricity that is in the arena/stadium when the Stones are on stage. There is nothing like it. Never will be. Hope to see you all out on the road in the future.

I wouldn't buy a new pot of ink just yet then ...It'll dry up before you use it ;^) .

[I'll happily second many of Jomo's superbly expressed sentiments too.]

Fenway Park Boston. The green monster. Where it all started.
This picture is taken some days before the tour start,
with the Stones trucks still coming in with equipment:

Some shows later the trucks have arrived into
New York City and are parked outside Madison Square Garden:

Then from NYC following Hudson River north up to Albany.
Notice not all trucks are red, but this was one of the
rare occations where they were parked next to each other
in such a nice way:

Charlotte. The picture tells the story!

Ronne is arriving. I am behind the barrier as you can see...

This picture ended up on a bootleg cover.
My friend Juha from Finland is holding my coffee.
We are on our way to check out Hollywood Bowl:

This is how it looked like inside the Hollywood Bowl.
No security. Just walk in and enjoy the place.
We ended up having seats in the "pool" which is
the seats you can see inside the actual stage,
as up front as you can get. The Edge from U2 was
sitting next to us, and he loved it as much as us:

San Francisco. My favorite city in USA.
This is on show day - first show in SF.
I started walking from downtown and after a long walk
I did this picture, which s from Haight Ashbury,
the part of SF where time stands still,
very much like the hippie days:

Then another long walk. The plan was to walk this bride.
It took some time but I made it. Great bridge and great walk.
Then back via Girardelli and to the hotel and then the show.
If you know SF then you know this was a real long walk...

Shanghai. They don't throw old wood away.
The kid is with the parent at work. No big weight.
But all that wood is a heavy burden,
and they seemed to have a problem here...

The press conference in Shanghai.
My camera was messed up so the pictures are useless.
But as you can see I was there.
And it was great to hear Mick say:
There was a list last time we planned to go to China.
We had hoped the list had gone shorter,
but unforunately it had gone longer.

The fastest train in the world.
Fron Shanghai city center to the airport in 6 minutes.
Top speed 420 km/hour. Blistering fast.
And I was looking for a seat, but before I found one
we were there, at the airport...

Wonder when my flight out of Seoul is due?

Four great friends from three continents - on tour.

Perhaps you could get your book out in time to compete with Keiths autobiography!

Judging from the photos/comments of this tour- you could easily fill a book just about the ABB tour- thanks for sharing!

Fantastic pics and comments, bv. Keep it up. Your board haw become a part of my life. No day without spending some time here. You may call it an addiction. Posts like this one are just amazing. Can't wait for your book but then I hope you won't be able to write it in the next five years or so.

Sendai is the train station where Keith met Mick after a long time. I believe Mick had a LP of Chuck Berry. This station is where it all began, isn't it?

Sendai is about this tour. It was on the tour schedule inofficially. But it did not happen because of the tour logistics.

yes Indeed BV, in SF walking from downtown to Haight Ahsbury is a REALLY long walk. I'd rather take a cab, but its good excercise!

bv,glad to hear that San Francisco is your favorite city in the U.S. You are a better man than I for making that walk. Altough with our traffic, it's probably faster than driving.LOL. Cheers, thanks for the great pictures and reports. I hope the stones and you come back to San Francisco next year.
