I talked to chuck yesterday
Posted by: didi ()

chuck did a private show in austria (Schloss Esterhazy) yesterday (for about 150 people). it was a one man show, only he and a piano, he did some good songs, alberta-alberta, giorgia, htw, down the road apiece, route 66 and some songs from his recent cd.
after the show we had dinner, and i could talk with him some minutes.
Show next year:
not sure, but could be!
European tour:
he is very confident that there will be another tour in the next years, he hopes that the stones make a new record, because he wants to play some new songs.
Why only one song from BB 2007:
It is Mick who insist to play the best known songs, he wants the people to sing along, chuck always try to put in some rare played songs (new and old), and he promised me that he will go on trying to get some rare songs in.
Then we talked a lot about slane, they liked it so much there, and yes, they filmed it.
So, that`s all, nothing special, but i think we can be confident for getting a new tour.

Btw, chuck was very nice and polite, and he knows this forum!

thanks for the info! Always nice to read this kind of stuff...

It had been known for a long time now that, in terms of setlists, Chuck is the friend of a lot of people on this board.

These are two of the reasons why I screamed and cheered like crazy when Mr Leavell was introduced at the 3 shows I saw during the last leg of ABB.

Chuckie for president!!!

'It is Mick who insist to play the best known songs, he wants the people to sing along, chuck always try to put in some rare played songs (new and old), and he promised me that he will go on trying to get some rare songs in..........'

I suggest then no one sings along, particularly no, 'Yeah yeah yeah , Wooooooooo'.
Maybe then we'll get some different songs in the next tour.

Thanks for the info. I am going to see him tonight in Hamelin, Germany. He will be playing there for free(!), so if you live somewhere in Western or Central Germany, that would be a great Sunday afternoon trip. Showtime is 5.30 p.m.!!!

Thanks for the info.
Reading what he told you, one thing is certain nobody knows if there's going to be any more tours. That's the essense of what he said.
Tour 2008 "Not sure, could be". That means that they havn't decided.
Tours in general: "he is very confident that there will be another tour in the next years" That would mean, that's what he hopes for, sort of answer any politician would give you.

What I read into this is, no tours in 2008 and they'll meet up after a good long break and decide whether there'll be anymore tours at all.

So just calm down and wait and see :-)

Instead of singing "Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! WOOOOOO!" at Stones shows, we should all conspire and sing one of the following chants:

"Back! Of my! Hand! WOOOOOO!"
"Child! Of the! Moon! WOOOOOO!"
"Fac! Tory! Girl! WOOOOOO!"

If enough of the audience buys in to doing this, and we can agree on a chant, we can achieve miracles.

Thanks for that, didi. I'd heard some talk about some Euro shows after the release of 'Shine a light' as well. Hopefully it comes to fruition.

Yeah, Chuck is a really nice guy - always willing to take time to talk with fans, sign things, etc.

I don't think he would reveal any tour plans, if he knows or not. Like Mick, he's very savvy about not saying too much.

Yeah Elmo,I seriously doubt Chuck would come right out and say yes we will be in the states next year. He's been at this a long time and knows how to play the game.

Monkeylad,I like your idea. Memory Motel. Wooo.

What the hell is Chuck doing all of these private events for? Has he sold out? His legacy is in real jeopardy now. As far as I'm concerned Chuck is just slapping the fans in the face.

Kidding, of course.
