Did anyone attend Prince's O2 concert on August 24th. What did you think? Any chance of getting the full set list?

Sometimes yes, sometimes not

i was there with Gazza, Partydoll Meg, Sweet Virginia etc..

it was fantastic
the guy is a very talented showman
he had us up dancing in the aisles from the very first number-
it was unrelenting, good old fashioned entertainment.

He's got a wicked sense of humour, too, which came as a pleasant suprise.

his multiples references to The Stones, during the show, and the cheeky riffs to Miss You etc, were great.

This was my first (but not my last) Prince concert
he's James Brown reincarnated, as far as i'm concerned, and i cannot
think of a higher compliment than that.

I was suppose to go to the 24 th show and then the third O2 stones show. A friend of mine went thought and said the show was great and the after party where he played for over an hour absolutely blew him away!

Cheers,

Hi Adrian!

I agree. Prince was great. He is a fantastic musician and he seemed to be channeling James Brown when dancing. His voice is still great, even in the high ranges. At the after-show on the 24th he played for another 1-1/2 or 2 hours. It was a great night.

The after-show on 24th was mind-blowing and far eclipsed the main show as far as I was concerned.

I agree. The main show was terrific in its own right, but that 90 minutes in the Indigo afterwards was a performance of pure, mesmerizing utter musical genius

The aftershows I've seen have mindblowing. That's because Prince is pleasing himself rather than the masses. The main shows have been excellent, but once you've been to a couple, you pretty much know wghat you're going to get, even if he does shake up the setlist. And I've still got five more to go to ...

I saw the shows on the 24th and 25th and they were terrific. But, it appears that for all the complaining that we do about the Stones pricing, Prince was worse. He apparently sold 235 GBP "VIP" tickets, that basically covered the entire floor "first 10 rows from the stage". The fan club people who purchased first ended up with the first 10 rows behind the stage, so they spent most of the night watching the drummer's butt. Even folks in front of the stage had trouble seeing because the stage was so high. Then, to add insult to injury, they opened up an area closest to the artist and called them "stage suite" tickets for 250 GBP, and when they had a hard time selling the VIP tix, they lowered the prices back down to 31 pounds and sold them through ticketmaster. I should know, as I paid 31 quid to sit six rows from Prince on the 25th. Utter scam. Cohl and his crew are saints compared to whoever organized this.

Not a huge Prince fan but certainly respect him.

Cool to see Common joined him on stage. Common is one of the best musicians out there today and is very diverse with his music.

I guess you are wrong here! The 250GBP tickets where those
tickets where people were sitting directly "in" the stage area
with bar stools and drinking service.
All other tickets were 31GBP. We got 2 tickets at the boxoffice
for 31.xxGBP and ended at front row. Great party!

i went on the 24th - i guess i'm the only critic on this thread. i didn't think it was that great. i just know his stuff from the radio 25 years ago and was bummed to hear most of it in a piano medley (especially "when doves cry"). i hate medleys - can you imagine the stones doing a medley?

i guess i don't really consider him rock and roll - more like dance music. i was impressed with his guitar solos but there were only a couple of them.

the crowd was entertaining - so many young drunk tough-looking english men singing alone with every song. it made me laugh.

tickets were free and i'm glad i went. i danced a little but really, for me, it was a way to pass the time between stones shows. his references to the stones kept reminding me of who i really wanted to be seeing.

glad to hear he showed up at the afterparty. maybe that would've changed my mind about him but the line was too long and the price too high (though i spent almost the same price for each tim ries show).

This remark is sad but true.
When presale and sale started the floor seats were available for 235 GBP + fees.
A week before the shows the seats not sold were available for 31,21 GBP + fees.
That's what I call a rip off for those who are fans and secure their tickets as soon as possible.
After attending on Friday and having loads of fun I decided to go for a floor seat on Saturday and got one at the box office for the reduced price and threw my nosebleed ticket on the floor since there was no way to sell it,security warned me of being immediately thrown out for doing so coz it's illegal on AEG's property.
Great show again.
Michael

I checked with some people and changed my post. It is even worse than I originally thought, as those areas were created AFTER selling 235 GBP tickets. Total scam. Stone fans like us were the lucky ones, since we arrived without tix and ended up near the stage for 31.21. I agree that he is a great performer and he put on a great show, tho.

I was at 24.... I should say when he play the guitar or he does "blues" session... this was really fantastic!!! Then, when he he does other kind of music.... (let´s say, when the 4 girls come to dance on-stage) well, this was really bored!!

LQ - I was never a big Prince fan, was seeing him for the first time on 24th and wasn't that enamoured of the main show either (and I also hate medleys!). But the after-show was a different kettle of fish altogether. Absolutely fantabulous top show.

great to hear about the aftershow - i meant to ask you how it was when i saw you on sunday but of course, our aftershow plans were all amuck and the drama level was high.

i didn't get to say goodbye to everyone...i eventually just walked away from simpson's - an anticlimatic ending to the week.
