I've got a boot called "The Real Love You Live" (I'm sure I'm not the only one), that consists of the undoctored audience recordings of the "LYL" tracks. And, much to my surprise, considering stuff I've heard to the contrary, the only differences I can detect between the versions are in the vocals, besides obvious things like edits ("Fingerprint File" and "YCAGWYW" are particularly butchered on "LYL"). Point is, "IORR" sounds open G to me...mind you, I've never tried to play along with it...not overly crazy about the performance...
my issue is not so much with the presence or number of overdubs on LYL--it appears as if there were not more than were on Ya Yas--but how poorly they were done. it sounds as if a wet rag is placed over the recording when the overdubbed vocals enter. I can't understand how they could spend so long on this and do it so inadequately--8 years after they did it relatively seamlessly. the side effects of various drugs, I guess--diminished attention span.
