Wembley Arena September 15,2003

Just 4 years ago. A dream setlist dedicated to Sticky Fingers : Dead Flowers, Bitch and Can't You Hear Knockin'in a row. A terrific sound that night with The Stones on fire. To my humble opinion this concert was better than the 13th.
The first time I heard Dead Flowers with its intemporal lyrics since 1971. A first time for me for CYHMK. Wembley Stadium was on its foundations.....And imagining Keith proudly walking the stage while riffing heavily on the first choruses of Street Fighting Man....I know they will do it.

We were there also - my dream show - the first time seeing the boys on their home turf, and still the smallest venue I've been in. I'll never forget the wave of electricity that went thru the the entire arena when the first few notes of Paint It Black were played.
Awesome.

Probably, yes - but neither was a patch on the first Wembley show on 29th August,

Still the greatest Stones show I've ever seen and probably ever will see.

I agree, it was a superb gig; and not just for those reasons either.

However, in terms of sheer exuberance, on the part of both the crowd and the band itself, the 29th show was major league stuff. Everything seemed to click that night, from the first minute to the very last.

I even listed it here among my top five Stones gigs of all time, and far better than the Astoria performance that same week.

The fact that the gig was more or less sold out within 15 minutes of going on sale, was a major factor in creating an audience of fanatics; which was more than could be said for large sections of the motionless dummies who attended the recent O2 Arena recitals.

I was there. Saw all every London show on the Licks tour. The Astoria was great, but it was more of an event than a gig. that Wembley Arena show was much better.

Well said Logie. Motionless dummies (for the best part) at the O2 shows. Couldn't agree more. Wembley Arena was good.

I was along side the b stage on the last Wembley arena show. I'll never forget a bare - chested Keith almost on his knees in front of us during SFM,constantly "talking" to his guitar. Got a "high 5 "from Ronnie that night.

They, interestingly DID NOT play Satisfaction that night, but replaced it with.................................YGMR !

The 29th August show was better, but I had a bad seat.

My favs were the SECC shows - very intimate and great set lists, although I think I was the only sober person there !

The only two of the 11 UK & Ireland shows I missed were Manchester (which I skipped as I do have to see Mrs Gazza occasionally) and the rescheduled Twickenham one (I had tickets for the postponed show but Id spent so much money on flights and tickets that going back to the new date a month later was unrealistic)

Best run of Stones shows I've ever seen. Enjoyed every single one immensely. The two Glasgow shows were the best of the bunch, next to Wembley I and Astoria. Still hard to fathom that in the space of under three weeks, we had eight arena shows (all, apart from Manchester, in venues holding between 8 and 11,000) and one theatre gig.

I had 9th row for Wembley I and got hauled out halfway through the opening number by the Wembley security Nazis for taking a photo on a throwaway camera. I thought I was going to get thrown out but it turned out they were actually very nice and all I had to do was get what was akin to a cloakroom ticket for my camera which I could collect again afterwards.

Well, it seems I should have been on the 29th of August. They did not play Dead Flowers that day. But having MR and CYHMK on the same gig must be something quite unique, even more if the band plays like heaven. Did that happen on other shows.
